Our Review of the BOB Ironman Duallie double stroller

The BOB Ironman Duallie is a tough two-passenger running stroller, endorsed by the Ironman Triathlon. The Ironman Duallie has strength, durability, is functional and easy to manage – all the fundamental components of a good jogging stroller.

Aside from its sharp look, two features set this double stroller apart from the crowd: the variable suspension system (with up to 3" of play) and the adjustable tracking. In addition, BOB's folding mechanism is amazingly simple - collapsing the stroller down into thirds, making it very easy to transport and store.

Two kids, up to a combined weight of 100 lbs, can ride comfortably in the Ironman Duallie thanks to the near flat recline and generous padding in the seat. This is a truly multi-faceted outdoor stroller: great for running, jogging, walking, or casually cruising the trails.

For your convenience, the Ironman Duallie comes with a caliper hand brake and wrist tether for control while running, plus a parking brake and footbrake. There's also plenty of pockets and storage space beneath the seat, washable fabrics, and a 5 year frame warranty.

For your kids, the dual seats of the Ironman Duallie have 5-point harnesses, and super comfy padding. The reclining seat backs are foam padded, and recline almost completely flat. It is not the best idea to jog while the seat is in full recline, but it's a great option when you're just strolling through the park and your little boy or girl starts to snooze.

What are the differences between the Ironman Duallie and the standard Duallie?

The BOB Duallie features the same unique suspension and folding system. However, the Iroman Duallie has Aluminum rims with stainless steel spokes, while the standard Duallie has Polymer wheels (BMX Style). As a result, the Ironman Duallie is a bit lighter than the standard Duallie.

The Ironman Duallie is equipped with on- road tires for speed and efficiency on the pavement. Also, don't worry about getting your Duallie in an out of shops, it's narrow enough to fit easily through standard doorways.

running mama approves!

I LOVE this stroller. I picked it out when I found out I was pregnant with my second child, and I have not been dissapointed. Serious runners will enjoy this stroller. It feels incredibly lightweight when running and is a very smooth ride for the kids. The sunshade pulls down very far so baby is always shaded. We also purchased the car seat adapter/snack tray which worked great when the second baby was still little. The stroller is a bit big, doesn't fit through doorways, but that is to be expected of a wide double stroller. I think my only complaint about this stroller are the fact that the storage compartment underneath is very narrow, I can not stick a bag under there without taking half of the stuff out!

My husband and I were a little hesitant to spend so much on this stroller without knowing if we could get a comparable stroller for less. We didn't know if we were buying the name or what. We are thrilled with our investment. The stroller is pretty huge but isn't heavy even with my two 25-30lb kids in it. It handles great-easy to stear and push and I'm 5'3, 120. The best part to me is that the kids are seperated and have their own hoods. We love it.

Don't Buy without testing

I have run 5 marathons and am planning to train for another. As a mother of two young boys, I thought the Ironman would be the best training stroller. Unfortunately for me I did not test this stroller in stores and only read reviews and did the BOB online test (which stroller should I get?) I have found this stroller impossible to turn when running in neighborhoods; short of picking up the stroller and turning it, there is no other way of maneuvering it; I have found myself annoyed, frustrated and wishing that I had bought the stroller with the swivel wheel for ease of movement while running.

I love this stroller. I have a 15 month old and a new born. I have taken them out in it several times and love it! It's so light and easy to push and comfortable for the kids and easy with everything we need to take along. Best $500 purchase EVER! I run marathons and triathlons and now I can keep my sanity with this double runner!

Better then expected

My wife and I had the Bob Single SUS. We had another child and needed to get a double. After looking around, we decided to stay with Bob. Then, it was just a matter of deciding between the Ironman and the SUS double. My wife said the SUS would be fine. But I persuaded her to get the Ironman. We live in the city and jog on streets and sidewalks. Well, after the using the Ironman the FIRST time we could tell it made a huge difference. It glides better then even the single SUS. The thinner wheels make a huge difference. This is simply the best I think you can get for jogging. End of story.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!

I picked out this stroller for Mother's Day this year. I have twin now eight month old boys, and they love riding in the "coach". It is a smooth ride for them, and easy for me to operate when running. As others have mentioned, the handlebar height is perfect (I am 5'5"). The seat recline is not the best, and the harness does not get small enough (my boys were two months premature, thus a smaller size than babies their age), but we have worked around it. I highly recommend the handlebar accessory, it is a huge help, especially for longer runs that require drinks for the little ones... It is a bit tight for everyday use (I tried it once at the mall, with a bit of difficulty), but find for running, nothing has topped it. Overall, I think out of the four strollers I own, this is the best!

Best Stroller!

I just receeived the BOB Ironman Duallie stroller 4 days ago and I've used it twice. I could not be more pleased with a double jogger. I know right now it says, "backordered" but I still received it in about 3 days. I searched and searched for double joggers and finally decided on this one. I had a single, Baby Trend Expedition before ($89) and although it was considered cheap, I have loved it and used it for 2 years. But, now that I am expecting #2 and am a runner, I wanted something better. Here are the things about this stroller that are invaluable to me: -the separate canopies really are a must in my opinion. They come way down and do not block the child's view at all. -my 2 yr old is very comfortable in it. He is 27 lbs and 35 inches tall and fits in it very comfortably. He still has lots of growing room. -each side has little mesh cupholders. My son has snacks and a drink along the whole way and this was a must for us. He even enjoys placing it in and out of the cupholder -It is the lightest stroller I have ever pushed! I also have a Bugaboo and the Bob Ironman Duallie feels lighter to me than that one. It is definitely lighter than my sigle Baby Trend. I am 7.5 mos preg and it feels like I am doing no work when pushing this stroller. -It folds really compactly for a double jogger and I can pick it up pretty easily, even pregnant. -there is a parking a brake and it's awesome. It is really wide and sturdy and very easy to use. Things that bother me: It does not fit through standard doorways. I think it would be fine if you needed to get it into a store, but it doesn't fit through the doorways in my house and my house is fairly new. -there is no locking mechanism when you fold it up. The owner's manual says to secure it with the wrist strap. That is kind of ridiculous to me but that is what I am doing. It's a bit inconvenient and kind of surprising considering my $89 single stroller had a locking device on it when it was folded up. -It was a bit difficult to attach the front wheel when receiving the stroller in the mail. You have to remove one screw from the frame to attach the front fender and I totally stripped the screw trying to get it out. Overall though, I think these few inconveniences are minor and the good points way out weight the bad. I think my biggest complaint is the no lock when it's folded but the light weight of it and comfort for my 2 yr old are the best. My 2 yr old slept for an hour on our first walk in it and he's never slept that long during a walk/run.

Excellent ride, but minor inconveniences

I bought this when my 2nd born was a few weeks old (in 2006) from this site. Great, fast service and excellent customer support. But after only a year, the foam padding on the left side of my handle bar began to shred and pull apart. I've re-taped it with padded leather baseball tape, which works, but isn't the same. Also, it's huge when folded (but it does fold easily). I also have problems fitting it through the doorways (I have a 1960's standard house), though it does fit with a bit of manipulation. The color is rough to deal with, because I notice the bugs zoom in on it when we walk, especially bees (but they immediately fly away when the realize there's no honey guides or flowery smell)! My last complaint is that my daughter is only 4 but really can't fit comfortably in it anymore. She's slender, but it's the height--her head hits the top of the canopy, even when fully extended (and when it's collapsed, it's awkward). It also seems like her knees are high up in the air bc of the foot rest, which is just a thin piece of canvass that (hard to explain). So I'm donating it already, after merely a year and a half of use. B On a pure pro, this has a smooth, fluid ride for driver and kids. It handles turns well, is easy to turn and pivot, and really seems to absorb shock well. Haven't had a brake problem other than making sure I press in the button well to engage lock. And the handlebar height is excellent (I'm 5'8 and very comfy pushing this). If it weren't for those minor issues above, I'd have given it 5 stars just for its smooth ride and easy steering. But I'm not sure that's worth nearly $500. ?

Great double jogger!

We have the single Ironman and have loved that since day one. Just received the double Ironman as a gift and my toddler has been climbing in every day, waiting for her baby brother to be big enough to ride! She loves it, and that makes getting out and jogging much easier. The best features are the hammock like seat, making it very comfortable for the child, and the HUGE sun canopy that actually covers the children when you're outside! I'm 5'7, and my husband is 6'4, and we can both push it comfortably. The shocks are great, it pushes easily and folds down about as small as possible for a double stroller.
