Our Review of the BOB Revolution stroller

Check out a real mom's test drive of the BOB Revolution stroller!

Comfort, versatility and control are at the essence of the BOB Revolution, the reigning champion of swivel wheel strollers.  The Revolution jogging / walking stroller features a front swivel wheel and 16" rear wheels, making this a stroller that truly serves every purpose.

The smooth swivel wheel lets you turn your Revolution on a dime when walking. Then, when you're ready for a workout, just fix the wheel forward and jog or sprint. What's more, you can maintain straight tracking while jogging by using the Revolution's exclusive adjustable tracking system.

When adjusted correctly, the front swivel wheel will be solid, with no 'play' to create resistance while you push. No other swivel wheel stroller offers this feature, only the BOB Revolution and the special edition Bob Stroller Strides. Couple this fantastic feature with the Revolution's one-step folding mechanics and you have a stroller that is as convenient as it is versatile. Also, with the BOB Single Car Seat Adapter you can use your Revolution as a travel system by attaching a Graco, Britax, or Peg Perego infant car seat . . . as soon as you're home from the hospital.

For your baby or toddler, the Revolution comes with a 5-point safety harness, and a seat recline that drops to a 70 degrees off vertical position. Extra cushioning keeps little ones comfy on long rides.

The suspension system with 3" of give and large rear wheels ensure a smooth ride over even and rugged terrains alike.  1-step compactable frame, parking brake, fine-tune adjustable suspension, safety wrist strap, and - as with all BOB jogging strollers - plenty of storage for any parent on the run gives families everything needed for a day out and about.

The BOB Revolution comes with the special Low Boy cargo pouch and dual seat pockets, and the seatback storage unit can hold up to two additional pounds (1 kg.), perfect for a quick snack, a few toys or whatever else comes up.

The BOB Revolution strikes the ideal balance between a walking stroller and a jogging stroller. It weighs a bit more and has less storage than most travel system strollers, but good luck taking one of them out for a jog – or even over some dirt trails. With the Revolution, you can manage any terrain with total ease, and it has a one-of-a-kind adjustable tracking system for jogging. Altogether, you have one of the best all-purpose strollers ever produced.

We cannot recommend this stroller enough; it is truly Revolutionary.

Comparison: Parents looking for a slightly lighter Revolution with a more compact fold (but less jogging potential) should check out the BOB Revolution 12" AW, with three 12" aluminum wheels instead of 16" rear wheels. If you have two kids, or like having plenty of extra room, take a peek at the two seater BOB Revolution Duallie double stroller, which is also car seat compatible.

Another great all-around walking and jogging stroller is the Baby Jogger Summit 360. The Summit 360 features automatic tracking instead of the BOB's adjustable tracking. The Summit 360 also features two rear 12" wheels instead of 16" rear wheels. Finally, the Summit 360 uses Baby Jogger's patented one-step fast fold for easy storage on the go.

For a great value, check out the Tike Tech Trax 360. In contrast to the BOB Revolution, the Trax 360 features an adjustable handlebar, something caretakers of different heights can appreciate. Unlike the Revolution, the Trax 360 does not have a suspension system. While the Trax 360 handles off-road adventure with ease, it is not suitable for jogging.

LOVE BOB!!!!

Reviewer: cris , Fayetteville, NC Date: June 26, 2009
I LOVE my BOB!!!! I wish I would have bought this stroller 8 months ago when my son was born! The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the locking issue. WHy doesn't it lock when you fold it? I almost didn't buy it because of that. BUT I figure in time I will get down to where I can fold and throw it in the back of my SUV w/out issue. Other than the no lock when closed this stroller is a dream to push, very rugged, cool looking and has a HUGE sun shade! LOVE LOVE LOVE my BOB! I bought the Mesa and it's so cool looking.

Best Stroller Ever!

Reviewer: Kristen , Cheyenne, Wy Date: May 20, 2009
I purchased this stroller 7 months ago. My daughter is now 6 months old, and it is by far the best baby purchase I made. This is the only stroller I use. I use it to run, go on walks, and everyday shopping (we bought the car seat adaptor). If you are looking to only buy one stroller, this is it. Even my mom, who was really skeptical about using a jogging stroller for everyday use, now brags about it to everyone we see (whether we know them or not). It turns on a dime, and is amazingly easy to steer. It is also a great jogging stroller. I love this stroller!!

works well for us

I too spent a lot of time researching strollers. I would not trade my BOB for anything, but there are a few things left to be desired. The Good: SUPER easy to push one-handed.. really. I can push my 25lb child with one hand and walk the dog with the other. Although it is big I can manuver well in tighter spaces since it turns so easily. I don't think I could break the thing if I tried; it is very well made. I live at the beach and I can push it through even soft sand with a little effort and the front wheel locked. I find it great to jog with since it pushes along so easily. The Bad: All the extras you really have to buy if you want this to be an everyday stroller. The handlebar console, the warm-fuzzy, snack tray- for a $400 jogging stroller you would think they would include a spot to throw your water bottle! The seat only sits So far up. Even fully 'upright' the seat makes your child slouch a little and can be frustrating for them not to be completely sitting upright. The Ugly: Trying to use that darn strap to close the stroller once it is folded down. I have figured out how to pick it up once I have it folded to get in in the back of my car without using it, but it is a total pain that it dosent automatically snap shut. The bottom line, though is that I wouldn't trade it for anything. I know that with it in my trunk I can take my little girl practically anywhere and get around just fine. Gravel, sand, uneven pavement and grass are all things that a little mall walker just don't handle well.

BEST all around stroller

5
Reviewer: hillary , OC Date: March 13, 2009
If you use your stroller for mainly walking around home and sometimes at the mall etc THIS is the stroller for you! It pushes itself (really) and has an AMAZING hood that completely shades baby (very important in summer when it's so hot). We got the brown/blue one and it's such a pretty color combo and not so common as the navy's and orange ones. Get the cupholder caddy bob makes, fits perfect and you can store your keys, drink, phone etc in there. It is pretty lightweight too for what it is. Sorry to be shallow, but you see a lot of them around here in so. cal and i love being trendy like that too :) Just today at the spectrum i must have seen 4 bobs in 20 mins. I choose this over a baby jogger as they push so much better and just feel like such better quality; it is almost impossible to damage a bob!

Great Stroller

4
Reviewer: Anonymous , Austin, TX Date: March 09, 2009
The BOB Revolution is our only stroller. PROS: We love it's superior maneuverability, durability and comfort during use (my husband and I are of average height). One CON: We use this stroller for everything (again, our only stroller!), and we just popped the front tire by simply 'driving' the stroller on park grounds. According to the bike shop that fixed it, the tube was covered in thorns. That seems a little wimpy for a supposedly rugged and all-terrain stroller. We are hoping this was a fluke, and we won't continue to have this type of issue because, so far, we have loved everything else about the BOB!

Great Walking Stroller, not Running

3
Reviewer: andy , Chicago, IL Date: December 29, 2008
We received the Bob Revolution as a gift when our son was born. I was very excited to get it so that William and I could go for runs once he was old enough. I have found it to be a great stroller for walks, not runs. I live in Chicago, and the sidewalks absolutely crush this thing. After a short run (about 2 blocks), I stopped because the cracks in the sidewalk almost toppled the stroller over on several occasions, but I don't think that any stroller would be able to handle the cracks. I then took it to my parents' house in the suburbs, where I could run on a nice, flat, paved trail. While I eliminated the cracks in the sidewalk problem, I found that I kept kicking the back of the stroller. I am 6'0", run about 6:30 miles, and have a relatively long stride. I would need some sort of an extension bar on any stroller to prevent from kicking it, and the Bob didn't cut it. Looking back, I think my expectations were too high for any stroller, and that I'm really not going to be able to run how I want to with any type of stroller. He gets to stay at home with Mom when I run, and we all go for walks later. Aside from not being able to run, I do really like the stroller. We have taken him in it golfing, for long walks, on trails, over light snow, and it has been great. $389 great? I don't know, but I do like the stroller, and with the swivel wheel, it is very maneuverable. Travelling with it is a lost cause though. Even folded down, it's still very big and doesn't fit very well in our trunk. And after reading other reviews, I am not going to risk taking it on an airplane as that seems to have disastrous consequences. Bottom line, great for walks and slow jogs, but I don't think it (or any other stroller for that matter) will cut it for hard runs.

I love ya BOB, but you're not all that great!

Reviewer: Kelly , San Diego, CA Date: December 03, 2008
I bought the BOB because I love to jog and it's supposed to be one of the best jogging strollers out there. At first I was pretty disappointed with my stroller because the first week that I had it, the inner tube popped-when I was a mile away from my home! So, after walking my baby back on a flat for a mile, I was NOT happy with my purchase. After replacing the inner tube, it has since been fine and I'm happy with how light it is to push and how easy it is to maneuver. I don't really like how it folds down, however, so it has it's pros and cons. I've never used any other jogger so I do not have anything to compare it to, but I'm sure I would be just as happy with any other stroller! I don't know that I would say it's worth the money!
