Super Nice but HUGE

I recently purchased this single stroller after having loved the double version for my 3 year old and 7 month old. I thought it would be nice to have the same great stroller but for times when it was just my infant with me. I expected and hoped that it would be half as wide as the double- NOT THE CASE! Because the frame is built differently, the rear wheels were nearly as wide as the double (maybe about 6 inches narrower). Since I wanted it for mall shopping and such, I felt it would be too big to wrestle the narrow aisles with. I actually returned it. BUT, it does have some of the GREAT features that the Baby Jogger Double Elite does. This is my opinion of the features:1) the fold is the easiest around (although they did complicate it by adding safety snaps) 2) The handle bar is very sturdy and adjusts to amazing heights and lows. 3) The fabric is gorgeous- very high quality. 4) The sunshades are amazing, especially with the magnetic closures and side vents. 5) It is very roomy- it looks like it was built for a 6 year-old (my 6 year old fit in it better than my infant). 6)The wheels are easy to put on and take off. 7) The buckle is very secure and high-quality, but still possible for arthritic hand to use! Beware that since there is no chest clip, it's not too difficult for a child to get his arms loose! Fortunately, the rest is secure enough to prevent a complete escape. 8) The parent console and back pockets are handy. 9) the underbasket is small and difficult to get too. Don't plan on putting a diaper bag under there (unless it is a small one!) 10) Despite how huge it was, the carseat cannot sit in it. 11) The child tray (you have to order separately) is nice and easy to open/close.
OVERALL: If you have an older/larger child and plan on using it outside more than inside, it is a great stroller!

City Elite is Wonderful!

After many strollers, and much research I decided on the City Elite. It's the best stroller I've ever used. Lots of room, baby sits up where he can see everything, which keeps him content. Lots of storage, in fact so much that I keep finding another storage area each time I use the stroller.I love the canopy! It almost covers the entire baby. The only area left exposed is from the lower leg down. Pushing it is effortless, and making tight turns is no problem at all. While I use it outside, it gets the most use inside shopping at the mall. The seat is so spacious that it's easy to just lay the baby down flat to change him. Eliminating the need to lay him on a community changing table (Ick!). Folding the stroller couldn't get easier. One quick pull of the strap located in the center of the seat, and it's folded. It is a little heavy, but not so much that it's a problem. I'm an average size women, and find it quite easy to fold. Unfolding is easy too, but it does take both hands. But, even a simple umbrella stroller takes 2 hands to unfold. I also like the fact that the folded length is much shorter than most strollers. It's a little taller when folded, but that makes it much more compact. I keep it in my car all the time and I still have plenty of room left. When the next child comes along there is a kiddie board that attaches to the back of the stroller for the older child to ride on; kind of like a boogie board. It's not made by City Series Stroller, but it's sold on this site as an aftermarket item and is made for this stroller.

This stroller is nearly perfect. It rolls like a dream, and the mechanism for collapsing the stroller is the best I've ever seen. The baby loves riding in the thing, and there's no feature we would want that isn't included. In short, highly recommended!

Very easy to maneuver. Lots of places to store things. My toddler sits more upright and can see. Still waiting for my child tray which will make it even better. I had the Schwinn prior and after some heavy use it fell apart. This seems to be a nice step up in quality and style. It is a little shorter in the wheel base so it turns easier. I liked the Schwinn, I love the City ELite. Company was also easy to deal with and shipped it right away. Definitely a 5 star experience and product.

LOVE the City Elite!

We LOVE the
Baby Jogger City Elite stroller and would highly recommend it! We did a lot of research on all-terrain strollers that are good for the City. We wanted a stroller with big wheels that could easily handle all the bumpy cobblestones in our neighborhood and go off-road in the park. This stroller is like an SUV it goes over bumps, curbs, grass, etc, very smoothly and is super-easy to push. We love the bubble canopy - it is much bigger than canopies on other strollers, and provides almost complete sun coverage (just our son's feet are exposed to the sun, so we put lots of sunscreen on them, or you can buy an additional sun shade if you want). The stroller is very well-designed, love the magnetic peep-holes, the super easy fold, the kicker foot-rest that also provides easy front-access to the basket, and the convenient parent console (we use it all the time for cell phones, keys, wallet, sunglasses, toys, snacks, water bottles, etc). Another advantage is that it goes up to 75 lbs so you can use it longer. Our 7 month old is huge for his age so we wanted a big weight limit. Finally, we liked that there is a jump seat for when baby #2 comes along (the bigger child rides in the front in the jump seat). We also looked at the Phil & Ted's because of that feature, but didn't like how the baby rides so close to the ground in that one - plus it had an inferior canopy and didn't seem as spacious for our big son. Here are the only negatives about the City Elite, which really are not so bad: 1) it is heavy, so not good to take on the subway or carry up stairs, 2) with a big diaper bag on the back, it tends to get a little back-heavy, especially if baby is not in it, and is sometimes a little prone to tip backward, 3) the basket is not super-big, although it actually stretches to hold a remarkable amount, and you can easily access it from the sides and front under the kicker. Overall a great stroller. We get compliments on it all the time and would definitely buy it again!

Better than a Bugaboo, and half the price!

After using a
Bugaboo Frog in New York City for 2 1/2 years, I unexpectedly found myself in the market for another stroller when my son reached the weight maximum for the Frog (40 lbs). I began looking for an all terrain urban stroller that would be 1) easy to push and navigate around New York City and 2) able to accomodate a 40 lb./38 inch tall toddler.
After tons of research for strollers that could accommodate up to 70-75 lbs, I decided on the pro
BOB Revolution - When it arrived I was disappointed to discover that my son's head was pushing against the bumper on the top of the seat-back. Not good. So...I called the people at
JoggingStroller.com and next tried the
Mountain Buggy Urban - he just barely fit (height wise) but more disturbingly, he cut his foot on the metal footrest. So back to
JoggingStroller.com it went. Next up was the Baby Jogger City Elite which I have to say I L...O...V...E, LOVE!!!
It is not only stylish, but the bubble style of the sun canopy gives you alot of extra head height for taller toddlers. This stroller is so easy to push that just glides down the street (it doesn't feel heavy at all). It turns on a dime, has a very sturdy build to it (without being clunky), and is a very comfortable ride for my son. In my opinion the City Elite pushes/rides so well that I much prefer it over my old Bugaboo. For urban moms its worthwhile to note that although it is a larger stroller, I haven't had any problems navigating in and out of various shops of the narrow aisles of grocery stores in the neighborhood.
When comparing the City Elite to the Original City stroller, I decided that the extra $50 to get the City Elite was well worth it for me for the following reasons: 1) For those with taller toddlers, the extra head room afforded by the Elite's sun canopy is awesome; 2) The handlebar console is very handy; 3) I like the Elite tires more than those on the City - they are wider; 4) The seats are more padded - a nice feature for urban babies who spend so much time in strollers; and 5) I just really prefer the look of the Elite - very modern. In fact, I've had a number of people stop me on the street asking about it.
Final mention: I have had a very positive experience working with
JoggingStroller.com They were always professional and helpful. The shipping was timely and delivered as promised. They were most accomodating when returning the BOB and the Mountian Buggy didn't work out. And additionally, I had a slight defect problem with the City Elite two weeks after it arrived and they were most accommodating in exchanging the stoller promptly - no hassles.

Mostly love it

I do love this stroller but I wish I would have gotten the city classic. I like the other reviewer had the wrong dimensions. I called Baby Jogger as soon as this stroller came out and they told me that the weight and size were the same as the city classic. The Elite came out a few months before the Classic in 2008 and as soon as the Classic was released, the company published the new specs for the Elite. The 2 inches in width and few lbs in weight really do matter. This stroller is great for strolling and walking and I love the quick fold. I just wish I would have gotten the Classic instead.

Pretty Good Stroller

I have researched strollers for a very long time and finally have come to the conclusion to buy the City Elite. I like the stroller, it's easy to push, nice comfortable seat for your child and the parent console is very convenient. Additionally I love the sun canopy. No other stroller company has such a hood, and it really makes a difference. And no one will tell you that a Baby Jogger is difficult to fold- you can't get easier! (Although to open it is a little bit of a pain. Since you can't open it with one hand, because it folds in half, you can't be holding your baby and unfolding the stroller at the same time.)
I gave the stroller 3 stars for a couple of reasons. I think that buying the Elite as opposed to the city classic is really unnecessary. For $50 more it's not worth it. You are not getting features that are significantly better; the kicker, parent console, colors and basket accessible from all sides in my opinion not worth it.
As for the kicker: for a new born- it's not necessary. The seat is quite deep and their feet, until they are over a year old will not even drape over the end. So you don't ever end up putting up the kicker, cuz their feet don't reach! Along with that, the kicker stand doesn't stay in its pouch. Whenever you fold and unfold the stroller the kicker stand (which is metal) comes out and drags on the floor, getting stuck in the wheels and making dragging noises on the ground. What I have done is safety pinned the pouch closed, and it's taken care of the problem.
The parents console is great- I love it and it's a great addition, but not a reason to get this model, you can buy a parent console anywhere for much less than $50!
Yes the basket is accessible from all sides, but not really. To get in from the back is really annoying. You have to slide your hand all the way down the back pocket to finally reach the basket; it's just easier to go to the side. You end up just accessing it from the sides anyway (which is what the classic has).
I was very disappointed with the weight of the stroller. It is heavy. It states that it's 25 pounds, which by the way, when I bought it, everywhere said it is 21 pounds including Baby Jogger themselves until they recently switched it realizing it's heavier than the Classic. I weighed the stroller- it's 28 pounds. Which is a very big difference than 21 pounds, and you feel it, it's heavy. It is heavy to push, heavy to carry and heavy to store.
Basically bottom line to all you parents that are looking for a great stroller and you're thinking of getting the Elite, unless you are crazy over the bubble canopy which gives it a different look, go with the City Classic. It has the long canopy, same size basket and the 2008 model has the options of adding the jump seat and all the new accessories. My recommendation is to buy the Classic and an additional parent console. Hope this helps!!!!!

I was looking for a stroller that has it all and this seems to fit the bill! It's a nicer, plusher all terrain stroller with great features like TWO peek-a-boo windows, magnetic flaps, adjustable kicker, etc... It's a bit heavy but I don't think more so than any other all terrain strollers. Also, rumor has it Baby Jogger is coming out with a jumpseat similar to Valco's so you can add another down the line!
