Our Review of the Chariot CX2 bike trailer
Families enjoy the outdoors with the same great Chariot features as the CX1, but with capacity for two children. Similar to the Cougar 2, the Chariot CX2 has excellent features unavailable on the Cougar: dual rear drum breaks for more controlled stopping and an ergonomic five-position handlebar.
Taking children along for the ride is a breeze thanks to the no tools required assembly and conversion. Patented ezFold™ design makes for easy transport and storage. An extra-capacity folding rear storage bag and pocket for wallet, keys and cell phone holds everything while a clever handlebar bag doubles as a child's backpack for added, transportable storage.
Get out with children riding comfortably in the deluxe padded shoulder harness and widened child cockpit. Children love getting outside, and weather won't affect riding comfort thanks to bug proof mesh, water repellant fabric, an extra long sunshade, weather cover, and zip-down front window for added rainy day protection.
Safety comes first with:
- Additional 3M™ Scotchlite™ Reflective Material so everyone can see you
- Protected child cockpit for one child or two
- Meets or exceeds ASTM standards
- Hand lever-activated rear drum brakes
Other features include:
- Integrated helmet space for comfortable, safe riding
- VersaWing™ 2.0 for easy conversion (strolling, jogging, biking, hiking, X-country skiing)
- Light-weight anodized aluminum frame for easy pushing and pulling
- Adjustable suspension for smooth rides
- Click n' Store brackets
- Ergonomic five position handlebar with removable brake lever for full control
- Color-matched shoulder harness for safety with style
- Push-button black spoked 20" aluminum wheels with reflective sidewalls, and red anodized hubs with maintenance-free bearings.
Important Note: All convertible Chariot bike trailers (the Cheetah, Cougar, and CX) are sold as Chassis Only. You must select one or more CTS Kits in order to use your X-Country child transportation system.

love my new chariot i have a 2month old and a 2 year old, they both sit nice, they both can sleep, and i get to work off the fat! i have so far used it almost every day. its awesome, i love it. i use the infant sling, which holds my 15 lb 2 month old well. i wrote chariot about a few things and they got back to me and said they were working on it! great company as well as great products. spending the huge amount of $$$ on the cx2 was a little scary but so glad i did, its my freedom on wheels.

Stretching the Limits

I purchased Chariot?s 2005 Cross-Country CX2 from Bicycletrailers.com for use with an 80 lb., 9 year old child with muscular dystrophy vacationing with our family. We also purchased the
jogging kit,
cycling kit,
hiking kit and
cross country ski kits. The hiking kit enabled us to hike relatively flat compacted sand trails; we were able to bike asphalt trails (though it took a strong male to pull 80 lbs up the inclines). We did not use the ski attachments in the loose sand, as we had anticipated, because the spoked wheels actually worked better (though sharp turns with 80 lbs. would have damaged the wheels in loose sand). In this situation, pulling the trailer worked better than pushing.
This product allowed us to have a vacation that EVERYONE could participate in. Obviously, when you get up to 80 lbs., this trailer is designed for two 40 lb. toddlers not a single 80 lb individual. However, with the addition of a our own foam seat cushion and bolsters it was the only product I found out there that COULD have accomplished this. It is not clear to me that there is an officially sanctioned (and probably more expensive) product out there that would have worked any better, and this product is still available to us for carting toddlers and groceries. The strength, ruggedness and weight capacity of this product, as well as the available add-ons, is what sets this apart from its peers. It did everything they said it would, and more!
I wonder if Chariot would consider designing one of these trailers specifically for the handicapped young person under 100 pounds? When the going got tough, we would put one adult at the handle bars and another in the hiking harness for extra push and stability.
We pushed the limits of this product and it served us well. Thank you.

Good trailer, great stroller

This is a great trailer, but I like the width of and cargo capacity of the
Burley better. Also like the hitch the mounts to the stays a little better. Where the
CX 2 really shines is in its ability to do both. It is a very nice jogger and for someone taller like myself offers higher handlebar access. Also like the variety of options on the grip. If you want one trailer/stroller that does both well this is a great way to go.
