Kelty's Speedster Deuce double jogging stroller incorporates all the great features of the single Speedster Deluxe. Responding to customer feedback, Kelty has streamlined the size of their double stroller, whittling 2 ½ inches from the length, and shaving an inch and a half from the width. The result: the Speedster Deuce is even easier to turn and maneuver than last year's popular Deuce Coupe model.

While the sun canopy isn't quite as slick as BOB's, and Kelty hasn't divided their double canopy into individual sections like Baby Jogger or Dreamer Design, the Speedster Deuce still provides good protection. If you have an older child, note that it's much simpler to remove the Speedster Deuce's sun canopy than the canopies any of these other brands.

What other advantages does the new Kelty Speedster Deuce have over last year's Deuce Coupe:

  • Individually reclining seats, great for younger passengers
  • An adjustable handlebar able to shift from 34-45", making the Speedster great for runners short or tall.
  • A wider seat, providing more room to grow and more comfort for an older child.
  • A simple cable/pulley folding mechanism housed in clear plastic, so you can see the inner workings. Is it necessary to see the inner workings? No. But it's cool anyway.

Overall, the Kelty Speedster Deuce is a feature-filled double jogger that's sure to please runners, proving once again that Kelty quality is top notch.

Cockpit way too small

Reviewer: Anonymous , Charlottesville, VA Date: February 23, 2007
We ordered this stroller from another vendor b/c of positive reviews, good reputation, and we found it for a very good price ($309). We have a Knucklehead adjustable single jog stroller that we really are happy with and had been using a second hand Tike Tech that just died with a fractured front wheel fork. Given that I am training for a ten miler and run with our boys, I was in a hurry to get a replacement. Too much of a hurry it turns out.

The stroller immediately proved unsuitable and we repackaged it and returned it. We have a 28 month old who is well BELOW average in height (34 1/2 inches) and weight (27 lbs) who was visibly uncomfortable in this stroller. His hair rubbed against the top bar and his shoulders did not fit between the uprights. He had to twist to get into the seat. We do not even bother to try our younger son.

It is a beautiful and well built stroller but I cannot imagine taking our kids out for a brief walk much less a long run. Clearly some of the other reviewers had similar concerns. Wish we had found this site before we went through the hassle of buying and returning.

Comments from The Staff:

I'm sorry to hear that this stroller didn't work out for you. All kids are different sizes and shapes, so unfortunately not every child will fit in every stroller, even with the measurements listed, you're going to run in to an issue now and then. Let us know if we can help you with anything else!

I went from a Dreamer Design Double to the Kelty Double and am pleasantly pleased. My 3 year old actually would try to get out of the straps of my DD and doesn't in the Kelty. The durability, foot bar and soft padding has made it perfect for both my 3 year old and 6 month old. It has been a great switch for all 3 of us.

compact and practical

We have the Kelty single jogging stroller and like it so much we got the deuce when we had our second child. We absolutely love how easy it is to break down - how compact it is - folded or unfolded. The width is small enough to fit through most doorways - unlike most side by side double strollers. The deuce provides a fairly smooth ride for the kids while running. Kelty strollers are built extremely well - they do not breakdown in almost any form. After using and abusing both our single and double Kelty jogger they still are in excellent condition. The only bad feature is our tall three year old has trouble sleeping in it. If you have tall toddlers a bar at the top prevents them from comfortably reclining back for a snooze. On a whole it's a great durable stroller.

Both my kids love their ride in this jogger. My 3 year old has fun with the bell, which signals I can begin runnning. My baby is comfy and happy. Love that each seat reclines, which is not in all joggers. The strapping system is also great, better than my friends Dreamer Design. Since they make backpacks, they've added the pockets to strollers which is a bonus. All 3 of us love it.

I orderded this stroller because of Kelty's great reputation and the positive reviews of their previous double jogger. I love the streamlined and solid feel of it; the quick, compact folding; and the adjustable handlebar; but the child seating area is just too small. It looks like there is plenty of headroom under the canopy, but a low bar below where the handlebar attaches only gave my two-year-old a 1/2 inch to grow. My friend's three-year-old did not fit without leaning forward. I really wanted to make this work because it seemed to be just what I was looking for, but I had to send it back. It's a great (and cool looking) stroller, but, alas, I had to get something with a little more room.
