Our Review of the Mountain Buggy Urban Designer Double stroller

Mountain Buggy has just released the all-new Urban Designer Series of Mountain Buggy Urban Double strollers. These new models feature specially designed fabric designs for fashion-conscious parents who want to make a bold statement with their Mountain Buggy Urban stroller.

The Mountain Buggy Urban Designer Double stroller provides all the features and benefits of the standard Urban Double stroller, but with designer prints on the seats and canopy that will only be available for 2007.

Mountain Buggy has also released other unique stroller fashions with the Urban Designer Limited Edition Double. There is also the Mountain Buggy Urban Elite Double, offering a unique look and useful extras like a seat insert, padded harness straps, a cup holder, and a diaper bag.

The Mountain Buggy Urban Double Stroller is one of the narrowest side-by-side double baby strollers on the market. With dual up front swivel wheels, the Urban Double offers great stability. This configuration is ideal for maneuvering in tight spaces – an all too common experiences in the urban jungle! At only 29" wide, this double stroller fits easily through standard doorways and maintains a relatively low profile—without compromising seat size.

Each seat of the Mountain Buggy Urban Double stroller reclines individually, down to a mere 15 degrees off horizontal, so that both your passengers can relax in their own fashion. The Urban Double also folds up easily and re-opens in a flash. Since this is a double stroller you may have some difficulty getting it into a smaller trunk, but the 12" wheels are much easier to manage than the 16" or 20" tires of a jogging stroller.

The Urban Double, like all Mountain Buggy strollers, is not suitable for serious running. The 12" wheels and front swivel action just won't give you the control and shock absorption while jogging that larger, fixed wheels will. However, since 12" tires are air filled, don't rule the Urban Double out for 'power walking' or the occasional light jog. It is amazing how much they smooth out the ride; a huge step above the cheapo rubber and plastic wheels of everyday umbrella strollers.

Be sure to check out the robust line of Mountain Buggy stroller accessories, as they are outstanding and unique.

  • The tires of all Mountain Buggy Strollers are made from Recycled Materials

Bottom Line: There is no denying that the sticker price for the Mountain Buggy Urban Double is high. Imported from their point of production in New Zealand, all Mountain Buggies feature a remarkable attention to detail, and their quality is hard to beat. While these details do not necessarily come through in an image, a side-by-side comparison between a Mountain Buggy double stroller and other, lower-priced strollers is a sure shot. The fabrics, frame, and features offered with Mountain Buggy strollers like the Urban Double confirm their excellent reputation.

Missing some things for the $

First of all I'd like to say that the customer service was absolutely wonderful! We had a couple issues w/ the first stroller that arrived and the customer service people were great! The stroller itself is pretty awsome too. There are just a few things about it that I don't like. First of all, it is a pretty bouncy ride, bouncy enough to wake a brandy-newborn. The way the carseat attaches to the stroller makes it almost impossible to reach the unlocking mechanism to get it off. The material used to sew the seatbelts onto the top of the actual seat is hard plastic and my 18-month-old says "ouch" when she puts her head back on it. We even have to put a pillow back there for her, and she is NOT a whiny kid at all! You would think for $700 that it would be nice soft leather or something. Right??? The safety leash in my opinion should be attached @ the rear axel instead of the handle bar b/c if you fall down w/ it on your wrist, the stroller will tip backwards onto the ground. And last but not least, when your talking about this amount of $ for a stroller I think it should come with a better sun cover for the kids and a cup holder or two for Mom and Dad would be nice also. But really after all that, I do love the stroller. It goes over rough terrain great and it is a cinch to push even with a full load. Maybe if some of these improvements are made next year they will offer to let people trade in their old for a discounted price! ;)

Despite the heavy weight of this stroller, I think it's the best! Easy to maneuver, easy to fold, fits through every doorway you can imagine. Going to the mall is a blast when you have a stroller like this one. The maximun weight capacity allows me to sit both my 46lb toddler and my 20lb baby.
