Our Review of the Phil and Teds SP Doubles Kit

The Doubles Kit for the Phil and Teds SP stroller is what really makes a Phil and Teds stroller unique. It attaches to the back of your SP, allowing one child to ride safely in the rear and another to sit in the main seat.

The Doubles Kit has these functions:

  • The Doubles Kit for the SP is the first second seat to have a recline function

Awesome Stroller

Reviewer: Anonymous , Brooklyn, New York Date: June 09, 2008
The Phil and Teds is a great stroller. With any stroller, and the rising prices of strollers as they get fancier, and become more of a fashion statement you have to think about how you're going to use it as well as how it functions. The Phil and Teds is a great stroller overall, but I have to say that you will really appreciate it in an urban setting. The selling features for me were the weight capacity, being able to remove the second seat when it's no longer needed, and the fact that it's narrow. My now four year old and now 17 month old fit well even with winter gear on. The air filled tires absorb the weight, so I don't feel like I'm pushing 2 heavy children plus the weight of the stroller. Living in NYC I love the fact that this stroller can take anything. It pushes through snow, it's sturdy on a windy day, and the delight is that it fits inside of small stores and boutiques. The panier bags gives you plenty of storage. They don't look like much online, but the 2 of them hold a ton of stuff. I've carried your typical diapering things, change of clothes, lunch, and a small blanket in one bag, and used the other for balls and toys for the park. When I'm not carrying 2 children between the panier bags, the basket underneath, and the empty back seat; it hauls all of my groceries, and department store things. Best feature-when the older child outgrows the stroller, or you just don't need a double that day, take the second seat off, and you're not stuck with a useless double. If this stroller works great for me in the city I can only image how easy it would've been if I were still living in a suburban setting pushing it through a mall, or at the beach.

Going for the Vibe

Reviewer: Anonymous , West Bridgewater, MA Date: March 27, 2008
I just recieved my sport and tried it out with my two boys... ages 1.8 and 2.4 - they both fought over wanting to be in the back seat!! I was not happy with the placement of the brake, very hard to operate when back seat is attached. I also wasn't happy with the bar coming close to the head of the child sitting in the back. I love the rest of the stroller and believe that the Vibe has fixed these problems that I came across. I am looking forward to trying out the VIBE and will post a review once I recieve it.

Reclining doubles kit was a dissapointment

Reviewer: Anonymous , Phoenix, AZ Date: October 05, 2007
I have had the Phil and Ted's E3 and doubles kit for over a year and I love it. I was excited to see the new doubles kit with the recline feature. When I received it I was dissapointed that the recline feature will only work for a very small infant. The bar behind the childs head makes the recline feature inoperable for a child over a few months old.

Good but one big flaw for us...

Reviewer: Aaron , Chicago, IL Date: September 18, 2007
We were excited by the prospect of a sturdy, nice looking double stroller that was narrow enough to not dominate the sidewalk (like a Hummer dominates the road!). For the most part the Phil and Teds met our expectations. The big flaw, at least for us, was that when we had to go somewhere in the car with the P&T, we were forced to take our 1 month old son in and out of his infant carseat when arriving/departing, waking him up on both ends of the trip (and robbing us of the great calming effect of strolling and driving!). Yes, the P&T's accepts a carseat but not when used as a double with a child that is too big (like our 2.5 year old daughter) for the lower seat/doubles kit. So, I would definitely recommend the Phil and Ted's for families with one child or with two that are a bit closer in age than newborn and 2.5. When they're closer in age, you can really take advantage of the P&T's flexibility. For us, we returned the P&T and went the "Hummer route"--we purchased a double Mountain Buggy with carseat attachment--which we love.

All around awesome stroller.

We have been using our e3 for over a year now. We have a 3 year old and a 7 month old. I know a lot of people think the rear seat is torturous, but our oldest son regularly chooses to sit there. While the stroller does take a lot of my truck space because of the large wheels, they pop off easily. Four adults and one child for a weekend with 5 bags, food, the stroller and a playpen in a compact car trunk. It is very compact once the rear wheels are (easily) removed. If anything, I would complain that the basket is small. But honestly, I feel like it keeps my shopping in check. I walk for groceries and it works great. I just wish I had the new one with the easier to adjust handle.

Love this Stroller

Reviewer: Debra , London UK Date: August 20, 2007
This is my 2nd Phil and Teds - I just wanted the new upgrades from the E3. I live in London so I walk everywhere and it holds my 14 mo and 4 yr old (who is really light) perfectly. The new upgrades are fantastic - love the new handle bar and the reclining 2nd seat - also the pocket in the roof is very handy. I even leave the 2nd seat in b/c it gives you so much storage room if you need it. It's a fabulous stroller - I also have the Carry bag - which is really easy to use and pack up and the hang bag - which works fine to hold small things and bottled drinks (hangs to low for drinks with straws. I'm trying the Bob console to see if it will work better for my Starbucks runs! Overall love the stroller - easy to set up, easy to push - so nice and narrow and compact with two!

Haven't used it yet., but looks great!

I only gave this 4 stars because our baby is due next month and we haven't used the stroller yet. It looks great, however, and was very easy to assemble. I think it's going to be the perfect stroller for us. I'll update my review once we've had it out on the open road.
