Our Review of the Suunto Comfort Belt - ANT/CODED

Standard with the new Suunto tc-series models, the Suunto Comfort Belt comes in soft fabrics and features a Comfort Module Heart Rate Monitor. Traction strips keep the belt in place during intense workouts. Unclip the module and toss the fabric strap in the wash for easy cleaning.

Purchase a spare comfort belt for your t1c, t3c, t4c, t6c, to keep on hold or upgrade from your standard t-series heart rate monitor belt.  If you own a previous model of the t3, t4, and t6 you can upgrade to the ANT comfort belt.  Those who have previously purchased the t1 coded can also experience the ease and convenience of the coded comfort belt.

Note:

  • The ANT Comfort Belt is compatible with the t3, t4, t6, t3c, t4c, and t6c.
  • The Coded Comfort Belt is compatible with the t1 Coded and the t1c.

If you're upgrading to the Comfort Belt from the original Heart Rate belt, you'll find instructions for replacing the battery in the instruction manual for each respective watch. The instruction manual is available under the "Additional Info" tab. Get instructions for the t3c, t4c, and t6c

Delicate

Fragile. I'm onto my third belt in one year. The small tabs that connect the HR transmitter and comfort belt, as well as the back of the HR transmitter, are indeed brittle plastic. Otherwise, the belt is comfortable, washable, and seems accurate to my t4c. I'm going to buy a t1c in order to replace my currently busted belt. I figure that I might as well get another watch for the extra $30... *sigh*

too weak

I do dragon boat and after 2 months of training the little pieces of plastic broke. So I cannot clip it anymore. I extended the strap at the maximum to avoid to over tight. I am a large guy and even at the maximum extention the elastic was really bent. Suunto should increase the amplitude of adjustement. I really like the pod but I can't buy a new strap every two months!

I use the comformt belt with my t6c watch as a personal trainer. No problems whatsoever, even with multiple clients.

Strap poorly engineered

I agree. The strap itself is the problem. I gave 3 stars because the monitor is good but the strap stinks. Suuno kindly replaced the first one gratis, but now the second one has given up. Maybe I can get a volume discount

Reliability Issues

1
Reviewer: Anonymous , Richmond, Va Date: March 07, 2009
I got my T6c about three weeks ago. The first week I thought this is great. The second week after getting FirstBeat Athlete software, I found that this software shows the error count in the data collected. I thought this to be interesting. I was getting 0-5% errors that first week or so, no real problem at those rates. The third week comes around and now I am getting up to 50% error rates the hold week. The Comfort Belt seems to have real issues keeping a proper connection with the watch. I have the screens shots of the errors on the forum under Suunto Comfort Belt if anyone desires to check them out. I ordered a second Comfort Belt from here. I got it fast and attempted to pair it today. It will not pair all at with the T6c. I have an open RMA for my first Comfort Belt Pod but I think I will just send this one if first. No need for this retailer to handle something that seems to be a design problem with the Suunto ANT+ Comfort Belt in general rather than a lemon type issue. BYW, I also got a second Standard ANT+ belt which paired right away and the heart rate came up fast. Comfort Belts are real stinkers apparently.

Poorly Engineered comfort belt

I received my T4c wrist computer on September 25, 2008. On November 29, 2008, while undoing the comfort belt, one of the plastic connector came apart. I believe the Suunto comfort belt works very good with the wrist computer. The information it provides is excellent. However, this belt is poorly engineered. I have purchased an additional comfort belt ($10.99) because it is not a question of if it happens but when it happens?.

Great comfort/poor transmitter design

While I have enjoyed the comfort of the strap; the transmitter connectors will easily snap off if not connected properly. I have had my strap for just two months and both connector ends have broken off.

Suunto Comfort Belt - Don't believe the hype

Reviewer: mmafighter , Atlanta,GA Date: December 08, 2008
Great product. I'm a MMA fighter, my training ranges from cardio kickboxing activities regular cardio and sparring. With my other belt I always got a --- in between workout, with the Suunto Comfort Belt - ANT/CODED I get an accurate reading everytime so far. Good product won't move around like the other one did. I have a wide back and this one stays put during my hard core workouts. Just remember to contact tech suppot, so someone can guide you through the sync process.

Should be recalled & refunded

I bought three bands (2 as "replacements). The clips that hold the chest band to the transmiter pod break from shear stress. I ride road bikes and put as about as little stress on them as any athlete could. Wearing them while training on a bike about 2 hrs per day. Each one failed at between 30-45 days. I had no problems with range transmission or the watch, which I like a lot. But the Comfort Belt and also the plastic on the transmitter pod is disgracefully poorly designed and of poor quality. What good is "comfort" if the thing falls off, especially in a race? No stars.
