    X6 strap

    2
    Reviewer: Anonymous , Mesa,az Date: December 16, 2009
I agree with previous reviews just ordered my third strap in 5 years @ $25/ strap. It is also annoying that although I bought the watch at rei I have to order it online. I use my watch for work and had to superglue and bandaid the band so it would stay together for the remainder of my hitch while waiting for my replacement. I just received an x6m As a gift and am afraid to look at the cost of a leather replacement band

    Not again!

Third strap in five years for my X6. The watch is doing great, despite elk blood, dirt, sweat, chain saw oil, and more. But the straps are not nearly durable enough. At least the shipping is free on this expensive item. I love my X6 watch. The band is inadequately engineered.

    T6 Strap - Not Durable

    1
Reviewer: Anonymous , San Diego, CA Date: October 16, 2009
The T6 watch itself is fantastic and a valuable training tool ... but unfortunately, its strap is junk. The retainer loop is first to go. I also use the O-ring trick to extend the life of the strap. After about a year the strap cracks and breaks. I've been through two now. I use the watch 24/7 but I'm NOT particularly hard on it. ALL my previous watches' straps have lasted much longer. If only the strap durability was better, this watch would be perfect.

    T6 strap

Reviewer: chunga , Truckee, CA Date: April 08, 2009
Customer Service: Here's a positive review for you. I've worn my Suunto t6 everyday for 5yrs doing all types of activities. A month ago the strap holder broke so I used an "O" ring. The strap just failed so I finally need to replace it. I have no complaints for what this band has been through and I love my watch.

Not durable and hard to install

Reviewer: Anonymous , los angeles, ca Date: September 30, 2008
I've had a Suunto x6hr for about four years, and the band started to crack. The little keeper for excess strap has not broken yet on my watch, but my son has a Suunto x6 and it broke after about six months. I mainly use the watch for exercise, so I wear it less than 10 hours a week, and I have to agree that it is the achilles heel of an otherwise great timepiece. I also agree it is VERY HARD TO INSTALL. The instructions linked on the Suunto site contemplate that you can reach the springbar through holes in the side of the band. That is not the case with the x6 strap. I spent a half our trying to get the pins out with various implements before I finally gave up. I'm going to take it to the local watch shop.

    Very poor longevity

I've owned my X6HR for several years. As with most others, the small loop to hold excess strap is what breaks -- every several months. I am not harsh with it. Rather than spend over $20 to replace it, I will visit the local hardware shop for some O-rings.

    Same issue as everyone else

    1
Reviewer: Ed , Austin, TX Date: April 24, 2008
I have had the same problem that everyone else seems to experience. The little loop that holds excess strap broke after less than 6 months of use. I replaced through this site and had the new one for about 8 months before it broke. I think the rubber is just a bit too soft for the designed purpose. Maybe Suunto should consider just selling the little loop as a replacement part, since the actual strap seems to work just fine and holds up well. Anyway, instead of spending another $20 on the whole strap I am just using a $0.15 o-ring from your local big-box home improvement center. Cheap replacement and it works great!

    Weakness : strap

Reviewer: Anonymous , Bethel Park, PA Date: February 18, 2008
I've been using rubber bands to hold down the excess tail after this part broke. I'd suggest a material more resilient to field use as mine broke a mere 9 months after purchase. Also, an alternative strap material would be nice as this one has caused a rash on both wrists for the past 4 months - granted I wear 24/7. Thanks for the excellent watch.

    Could be more durable

    3
Reviewer: Anonymous , Sneads Ferry, NC Date: January 22, 2008
This strap is a replacement for the original. It could be more durable. I replace mine about twice per year and I don't think that I'm particularly harsh to them. The piece that holds down the excess strap is usually the first to go. Other than the durability, the fit is good and it is true to the original style.
