t6 Review

Overall I think the t6 is a good product with a great deal of valuable data collected and analyzed. However, there were some shortcomings which disappointed me. The most disappointing issue was finding out that the version of the t6 I'd bought couldn't pair the foot pod and the bike pod at the same time and the only way to change that was to send the watch to Suunto to have them upgrade the software. The ability to upgrade the software from a CD or online would be nice. New versions of the t6 shouldn't have the pairing problem. The 2nd problem is that it doesn't track your heartrate in water so it's useless in swimming workouts. The last disappointment was the inability to download the data to excel. One feature I love and the main reason I bought it was the elevation tracking which I use for climbing trips.

Comments: Our t6 watches at Suuntowatches.com are all up to date. Thanks for the comments.

While it took me a short time to adjust to the combination of buttons that needed pushing (as i own other suunto watches) i have found the t6 a great watch. its great to map your progress on the computer and takes a lot of guess work out of the proceess. There are some good short cuts on there also.

Essential Equipment

Reviewer: Anonymous , Utah Date: July 21, 2006
I have had the T6 for a year and it's now essential equipment in my running training. I use it along with the footpod to track my distance and pace. My use of the software was consistent last year, less so this year. It's just a time issue. I thought that the software was a little strange at first; I didn't have ability to customize much and it was unclear what some of the information I was getting back was telling me. This was not well put in the materials that came with the watch.

I have had to send the watch back to Suunto to open the battery which was VERY FRUSTRATING. I also had to send the footpod back on one occassion and you sent a new one. The footpod stops emitting a signal from time to time and basically turns off, which is also very frustrating. I always keep the batteries fresh too.

For improvements, I would like to have the option to display my split times as the larger numbers on the watch, rather than the small ones for when I am racing or running track workouts.

Overall, this is a great product with a few flaws, but it has become essential for me now.

Biker

Good watch! The FirstStep is fantastic. Usability is very high as well as functionality. I have had several problems with it regarding missing heart rate readings. Have sent it back to Suunto for repair and they keep updating the software. Overall recommendation: Good Buy and GREAT Training watch. Made good progress over the course of a year in terms of fitness and bike time.
