Super Performance

Reviewer: Sara , Princeton, NJ Date: September 25, 2008
The Strollometer was a great purchase. It was easy to install and the performance has just been great. I use the Strollometer on both my BOB and Bugaboo -- it works great on both strollers and the numbers are accurate.

Dissapointed

Reviewer: Jenn , Cary, North Carolina Date: September 13, 2008
Well, I can't get this thing to work. It worked for the first few days and I LOVED it. Since everytime I use it on the same walk it has a different distance and sometimes in the middle of my walk it just turns off. I tried to reset but that didn't work. I really love this idea and wish it worked. I have only had this for about a month. I guess I will try a new battery and see if that helps.

Easy Set-Up Great Performance

Reviewer: Deb , Englewood, NJ Date: May 09, 2008
I downloaded directions for installing the Strollometer on my BOB. It was extremely easy to do and the programming was very user friendly. I've been using the Strollometer for about a month now and I'm thrilled with all its features and performance of this little gadget. It works great on all surfaces and the odometer readings are accurate (first few times I retraced my strolls with my car). I highly recommend this to anyone who owns a jogger. It seems silly to have a jogger without a Strollometer:)

Very well made. My Strollometer has consistently stood up to all my runs with my BOB on and off the road. Highly recommend this to any serious runner using a jogger. #'s are smooth, consistent and spot-on.

Only One Flaw

Reviewer: ivy , Carpinteria, CA Date: March 30, 2008
I love this product so much, I have it on my BOB and Bug. However, the computer part doesn't click onto the handlebar strap, and it falls off pretty frequently bumpy trails or a tap from an elbow. Wish I could come up with a way to make it stay in place. If I glue it to the holder, I won't be able to replace the battery. Better yet, I wish the company would make the computer part slide into its holder and click into place so it would stay put!

Comments from The Staff:

This is a great product and the solution to your problem can be solved!!! To ensure the console clicks into place, please slide the console on the handlebar strap with the tab on top, not the bottom. If the tab is on the bottom, the console will not click into place. Please give us a call at 800-887-0218 with any other questions.

I'm so glad I discovered the Strollometer. I use it on a daily basis. I get a great workout while my son enjoys getting some fresh air. Easy to program, user friendly screen, the Strollometer gives me a more effective workout each and every run. It really makes exercising with my son very easy.

Well worth it

I bought the Strollometer to attach to my Phil&Teds. First thing I noticed was that it was easier to install and program than the bike computers my husband struggled for hours with. Its well-made and has stood up to the many miles I've logged on it. I would recommend it to anyone looking to do more with their stroller than just transportation.

Great Stats!

5
Reviewer: Becky H. , Portland, OR Date: October 04, 2007
I?ve been using my Strollometer for about 6 weeks. On a press of a button, I see great stats that truly motivate me to go further and faster. Before using the Strollometer I verified my mileage with my car odometer. The Strollometer odometer reading was spot on! I called their customer service to inquire about the current speed calculation. She explained that Current speed is calculated by the # of wheel revolutions within a 3 second timeframe and is then multiplied by the diameter of my wheel. An addition of one more or one less rotation per interval will result in a speed increment. Unlike Current Speed, which measures consecutive intervals, Average Speed (as well as all odometer readings) is based on cumulative rotations and will register in .01 increments. Personally I like to keep my display on the current and average speed mode. This way I can focus on current speed for acceleration/deceleration exercises and average speed to gauge my constant speed over the duration of my run! Overall I love this product, its well priced and a lot of fun to use.

Good Enough

3
Reviewer: Anonymous , New Paltz, NY Date: October 01, 2007
As has been mentioned before, it's not terribly accurate. It's a great idea, and good for my highly un-technical training, but the speed tracking is flawed. Even though the mph is given to one decimal place, it's really not tracked that way. The tenths decimal never changes for a mph full number. For example, if you're going somewhere in the 6 mph range, your readout will be 6.1 (or 6.something, but the same .something EVERY time) until you're over 7, then it's 7.3 or whatever. (That is, I'm *guessing* that it changes when you're over 7 - the hit point could be 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, etc.) However, my overall mileage seems to be more or less accurate - it all must even out in the process. Generally, for the price, it's still a nifty little tool that lets me know more or less how I'm doing. I wouldn't suggest it for the data-hungry, but for the casual mom or dad jogger, it's good enough.

Comments from The Staff:

Thank you so much for the review! I'm sorry to hear that the Strollometer is not all that you had expected it to be. From the sound of it, it does sound like there is some kind of glitch with the device that you have. If you give us a call, we will be more then happy to take care of that for you, and switch them out. Doesn't seem right to have a half working Strollometer!

A great addition to my stroller!

The Strollometer is a terrific way for me to gauge how much I accomplish during each run. It was easy to program and attach to my BOB. The display is clear, the stats relevant, and the overall design is solid. For an item under 50 bucks, I?m impressed.

Pretty good!

My husband purchased this for me along with my new Bob Revolution. We had placed the magnet on the inside of the wheel so for weeks I wouldn't get a correct reading. I now placed the magnet on the outside of the wheel and so far so good. I have only used it once like this, I hope the magnet stays where it should.

Not For Runners Who Like Data

1
Reviewer: Anonymous , Cambridge, MA Date: September 24, 2007
I was excited for this product, but am sad to say that I do not recommend it for three reasons. First, speed is presented in MPH rather than pace. Most runners I know do not find it helpful to know they are running 8.1 mph, and would prefer to know that they are running 7:24 miles. Second, even if you are comfortable with the mph readings, the product does not seem to track speed very finely. Above 6mph, it has only shown speeds of 6.3mph, 7.2mph, 8.1mph, etc. As there is a big jump between 6.3mph and 7.2mph (9:30's vs. 8:20's), this data is not useful to me. Third, the odometer resets nightly, so it is not possible to track mileage over a week or month using this product. If I were starting over, I would investigate a bike computer as an option (which wouldn't solve problem #1, but should eliminate #2 and #3).

My husband loves the bike computer I got him last year for a gift, so he returned the favor and got me this in July for my BOB. Not only do I love it, he's impressed too. It was ridiculously easy to install (it straps on just like a belt) and is solid and well-designed. The modes are very intuitive, and I probably average a mile or more a week since I got it - its that motivational. I highly recommend it!

Not for the bumpy ride

1
Reviewer: Donna , South Plainfield, NJ Date: September 06, 2007
After initially installing the unit onto my Bob ironman duallie stroller I was thrilled with the ease of set up. My thrills quickly faded with my first run when the sensor bounced out of place, and my 3 mile run was only timed the first 3 minutes. Having to run on a combination of road and sidewalk, I have not managed to keep the sensor working thru an entire work out. I have tried several ways to position the sensor so that it stays in place, but to no avail. I think the product is great for those blessed with a smooth running surface.

Great Concept, Poor Execution

2
Reviewer: Amy , LITH, IL Date: July 20, 2007
I've had difficulty getting and keeping the Strollometer working since purchasing it several months ago. Getting it calibrated was a snap - very user friendly. Unfortunately, during my first trial with it, the screen blacked out on me. After replacing the battery several times, I contacted JoggingStroller.com for assistance. Their customer service was prompt and friendly and they were able to refer me to the manufacturer for further help. I was able to speak with the inventor directly, which she so kindly helped me troubleshoot my issue to no avail. I was then sent a replacement monitor by the manufacture to replace the defective one. After calibrating it again, I was good to go. The Strollometer was very accurate tracking the mileage as I tested it on a few routes I previously clocked out with my vehicle. My good fortune was short lived after using it a handful of times as it became apparent the mileage tracked by the Strollometer was grossly wrong (trust me, I only wish I was running over 4 miles pushing two kids in under 30 min, but there is no way I'm running 8 min miles these days!). I reset and re calibrated the monitor several times, only to get the same miscalculated results in my mileage. As my follow-through is atrocious pertaining to anything outside of the kids and home, I have not contacted anyone regarding my latest dilemma, but have merely chalked it up to a bad purchase. I truly hate to give a poor review because I had such high hopes for this product and everyone I have dealt with has given top notch service. Hopefully other customers have been pleased with their purchase and my experience is an isolated case.

Comments from The Staff:

Thanks for the comments! We haven't recieved much of this comment, and they've been on the market over a year now. But glad to hear about them when they do. We'll certainly stay tuned and watch if this were to unfold. We've sold thousands though, so I don't think it is a big issue.

Comments from Strollometer:

"What this customer experienced can be fixed very easily. The sensor has a green LED light that flashes once per wheel rotation. We believe Amy was getting two green blinks on her sensor for each wheel rotation, not just one. This would count her mileage and speed exactly double the correct amount. When designing the Strollometer, we specifically built in this green light so that the user could easily know if hte sensor was strapped on correctly."

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!!

I always spend weeks to months researching products before I buy, and I'm THRILLED with the Strollometer! I tried the Sigma BC500 cycle computer and found it difficult to install - then after an hour or so of programming the computer and mounting the components on my Dreamer Design stroller, the computer wouldn't work AND the band that secured the sensor BROKE within 30 minutes of my first workout!! Next I had a bike shop try to install a wireless cycle computer - they tried and discovered that wouldn't work. I was ready to give up when I found the Strollometer! It's very simple to install, reasonably priced and works great. The only thing it's missing is the auto-scan feature - otherwise I would have given it 5 stars.

Easy to Install..Easy to Use

I just set up the Strollometer this past weekend and have enjoyed using it. I am a creature of habit and tend to walk the same route every day. Now I know exactly how far I am walking and how long I am out. When I first opened the package and looked over the directions I thought it was going to be a pain. However, it only took me 10 minutes to get it all set up on my B OB Revolution. Getting the sensor in place was easy and they provide everything you need. The biggest issue I had was with the battery in the main unit. Every time I closed the backing, the display would disappear. After a few frustrating moment, I just closed the back but did not twist it to the fullest position. IT worked!

Overall this is a great device for keeping track of how long and far you have gone. I would recommend it to anyone that uses their stroller on a regular basis. It is not going to revolutionize the world but it is fun to see the stats of my walking and running.
