Good-- But BIG!!!

Reviewer: Joe and Ben's Mom , New York, NY Date: August 10, 2007
I recently got the Valco Runabout Twin for my seven-month old twins; before purchasing, I looked at the dimensions and it seemed as though the stroller would be smaller and more compact than comparable strollers like the Mountain Buggy. But make no mistake: this stroller is HUGE. The kickplate in front makes it seem particularly enormous and while yes, it is narrow enough to fit through standard doorways and along aisles, it is still a substantial size. I haven't even attempted to fold it; I think if I have to go anywhere, I'll put my double umbrella stroller in the car rather than try to figure out folding this thing up... But I've had no problems with the sunshield, or the rain cover-- once you figure out how to put them on once, it's really easy. And I cannot get over how much storage there is; we've gotten rid of the old bulky diaper bag we used to sling over the handle bars. A great purchase if you can afford to leave it unfolded or if you live in the city and need something to handle both pavement and park.

Great for the active family

Reviewer: April , Webster, MA Date: July 30, 2007
I bought this stroller in April and wanted to use it a few months before commenting. I have a 22 month old and a 2 month old and wanted to try and avoid buying 2 additional strollers. I already have 3 from my first daughter. So I figured I would get this one expensive stroller instead of buying a Graco double, and a double Bob jogging stroller. At first, it was hard to put together and did not come with instructions on how to adjust the head rest and shoulder straps. I couldn't find the tire pump...but found it today. :0) I purchased the Graco car seat adapter, which also didn't come with instructions on how to install it...we think we have it right though?? The sun canopies are on the short side, but I made an extension for it by sewing some fabric to a plastic piece and some velcro. Even with these complaints this stroller is great. I wanted a double stroller that was side by side seating so that the baby could actually see the world as we walked through it. Not sitting behind (or under) her sister, looking at the back of her head. I use it for mall shopping, walking the block and short jogs. We went to a triathlon today and all of the sporty mom's were asking about it. I even used the end of it as a seat to nurse my daughter while we are at the event. It is an expensive item...but worth every penny!!

Mom in Montana

Reviewer: Rhonda , Kalispell, Montana Date: July 25, 2007
My husband & I have a 23 month old son & a 3 month old son. This stroller has been ideal for our family & the Montana weather. We used it right after we had our son when it was chilly out, we felt it protected him from the cold weather elements and now that the heat has hit for summer it has worked great, for him to lay back, relax & not get too hot. The vents on the side 7 top really help. We love the individual reclining seats & sunshades. I like the extra storage room underneath & the bags on the back of each seat. The bags are nice and handy when you need a quick snack, binkie, drink or wet-wipe for the kids. The valco works great for mall shopping (if the stores aisles are not too tight and great for running outside) very versatile. The one thing I wish it had was a cup holder for the kids, but oh well. We love the stroller & people stop us all the time to ask about it. Enjoy

I love this stroller!

I really had some anxiety about spending this much on a stroller that I had only seen online, but it is definitely worth the price. I have a 4 mo old and a 16 mo old, so I really need a good double stroller that will last for several years, and I have no doubt that this one will. My girls are on the big side, but they are both very comfortable sitting in it and there is plenty of room for growth. And it reclines enough for a newborn to lay down without needing the carseat adaptor. The stroller pushes like a dream, whether in the mall or going across dirt and gravel, and it fits easily through doorways. It has a lot of storage space, too, which is especially important with two kids. And if you want a stroller that looks good, this one definitely does...I get lots of compliments. It is on the heavy side, but I can still get it in and out of my car on my own. My only complaint is that it doesn't come with cupholders. For the price, it really should. I absolutely recommend this stroller.

Great stroller

Reviewer: Anonymous , Chicago, IL Date: May 12, 2007
I researched many strollers before buying a Graco DuoGlider because of the high price of the Valco. It took only 3 months to realize that the Graco was a flimsy piece of junk. I couldn't be happier with the Valco. It is light, fits through doorways, fits in the trunk of our SUV and can be pushed with one hand. We live near a railroad and the Graco could barely make it over the tracks but the Valco glides over them. My only complaint is that the sunshade just isn't big enough. Unfortunately I had to spend the money on the Graco to realize what a great buy the Valco really was.

Most Versatile

Reviewer: Valco Enthusiast , San Diego, CA Date: April 05, 2007
I researched strollers and tried almost every brand on the market for months before I decided to buy the Valco. My main reason for picking it in the beginning was the taller backrest and canopy height. I was expecting our 2nd child and our first was 1 1/2 but the height of a 3yr old. I have been using this stroller for 4 months now and I absolutely love it. It fits thru doorways and down shopping aisles (and people can still pass you). It goes over sand, rocks, and grass. I don't have a problem with the sun canopies like everyone else because I bought the zip in sunshade. I actually never take it off the stroller. I just unsnap the 2 bottom snaps and roll it up on the sunshades. It is great and blocks 80% of UV rays so I don't have to worry so much about the kids getting sunburned. We take this stroller everywhere. I love the fact that it will go on and off of the sidewalks so easily, it makes trips to amusement parks and the zoo much easier. The amount of storage is unbelievable!!! I can put diapers in the mesh pockets on the back of the seats, clothes in the side pockets, our wallets, cell phones, and diaper wipes in the zippered pockets on the seats, and I put bottles in the elastic loops on the zippered pockets (4 bottles total). I also purchased 3 cup holders (one on each side and one in the middle). The only thing in the basket is the rain cover, an umbrella, water to mix the bottles and occassionally the footmuffs. I don't find the rain cover hard to put on. Throw it over the stroller, pull the elastic end over the foot rest, then start matching up the velcro tabs. I like that the rain cover (like the sun shade) has a zipper opening where you can get to the kids without having to take the whole cover off. My oldest likes to move his feet around and climb in the stroller on his own, so the metal foot plate is one of the best improvements they have made. All in all this is a great stroller, I have let a couple of my friends take it on a test run for the day. Every one of them that have used it, either want one or bought one.

Love this double!

Reviewer: Natalie , Salt Lake City, UT Date: March 30, 2007
I spent months trying to figure out the perfect outdoor stroller for my 2 kids, ages 8 months and 2 years. I am so glad I chose the Valco Runabout TriMode. Some of my requirements for a double stroller were: could handle outdoor terrain and occasional jogging, swivel or fixed wheel, good *individual* sun canopies, full recline for my baby, front bar, and able to fit through standard doorways. I am in LOVE with this stroller - it is perfect for outdoor walking and light jogging. I have not tried to take it to the mall but it does fit through standard doorways so I'm sure it would work fine - although I think it would seem quite large and cumbersome at the mall (because of the length). I have a double Peg Perego Aria Twin which I hate, so if I ever do take both kids to the mall I'll probably take the Valco. It is a bit heavy but I just like to think of that as an extra workout when pushing my kids. The infant insert works well for my baby, and my 2 year old has a TON of growing room! The hood height on this stroller is very tall so I know it will last us a long time. The only thing that I dislike about the stroller are the canopies - because they are so tall they don't block the sun very well. I found a Protect-a-Bub for a double stroller and it solved the problem PERFECTLY!!! It provides the perfect amount of coverage and attaches to the stroller very easily. I also ordered the Carry You Siena snack tray (one fits well) and my older daughter loves it. She can put her sippy cup and treats in there and stay happy during our walk. Overall I have been very pleased and would definitely recommend this stroller to anyone. There is no perfect double stroller, but I do think this comes really close!

Great urban stroller

Reviewer: Anonymous , Hoboken, NJ Date: March 19, 2007
Overall we are very pleased with this stroller. It is a little snug for our 2 year old son but our newborn daughter has been very comfortable in it since she was a few months old. It became even more of a tight squeeze for both kids after we installed their footmuffs for the winter months but I suppose that is the tradeoff we have to make for a double stroller that is able to fit into doorways of old homes and aisles of cramped markets. The rain/wind cover was ridiculously hard to put on and the stroller did not come with instructions. I called Valco but no one called me back! Fortunately I ran into another mom with the same stroller and she helped me put the cover on.

Great stroller for G-ma and the grandsons

5
Reviewer: Anonymous , Seattle, WA Date: March 13, 2007
I love this stroller! My husband joked that I spent more time reviewing strollers then I spent time reviewing cars when I purchased my car! I take my grandsons, ages 3 YO (36#) and 5 mo (15#), every where in it. There is quite a difference in their size, I was worried this would mean I would have to adjust while pushing due to the weight difference to keep the stroller on track, but this stroller pushes with great ease, no problem. The adjustable handle is great for me, 5'5" and for P-pa, 6'2". The shocks make this a very comfy ride for the boys.I like the one step brake too.I really haven't had to use the tri mode front wheel feature, I keep it on swivel. There is plenty of head room for the 3yo to grow. The specs on this stroller stated the seat was 7" deep, it is really 9" deep, and 15" from the seat to the foot pad. I don't find the sun shade a problem as noted in some of the other comments. I just unvelcro the back of the shade and slide it forward. The storage is GREAT, you can pack lunch, extra clothes, diapers, toys, towels, beach toys, radio...etc no need for a back pack! I did purchase "one" Carry you Siena snack tray and it attached nicely to the grab bar and a cup holder (liquid holster) for me.Top of the line stroller, $700, you think these would have been included. The rain cover is included thank goodness, we live in Seattle! The stroller is a bit heavy, 33#, I do notice it when pushing the boys up hill, or loading it in my car (which I do myself), but it is well made and made to last. I had a hard time finding out the folded dimensions of this stroller with the wheels ON (28"W 22"H 35"D) It takes some practice to get it folded quickly (it doesn't fold as "easy" as they say). When folded with the wheels on it only fits in the upright position in the back of my Honda CRV and just clears the head liner. The straps that keep it folded hold it together well. When the stroller arrived via Fed Ex the box was open and very damaged...Amazingly the stroller was not damaged...Valco needs a heavier box!! The folks at answered my e-mailed questions very quickly but most of their answers were NOT accurate! example:I was given dimensions for the "single" stroller model when I was very specific that I was only interested in a "double" model. This could have been a BIG problem, as the stroller had to fit into my car without the inconvenience of removing wheels, handle bars etc so I needed the correct double dimensions. Jennifer was the ONLY helpful and accurate person I dealt with. So, if you ask them a question, go to other resources to check if the answers you are given are accurate. This includes the "specs" which in some cases are also different. Other then the cost this was a great purchase...Now I see they have the "Tike Tech Trax 360" I may have opted for this stroller, better price, lighter weight, had I known about it.
