Happy BOB

The BOB SUS is a high quality stroller that really suits our needs as active parents who want their child to gain an appreciation of outdoor activity. It is lightweight but durable and does an excellent job of smoothing the bumps while we share the wilder side of life with our daughter. We are able to comfortably take her places we could not in most other strollers, such as down dirt & gravel trails through the woods. It is also great in town on bumpy sidewalks. At 14 months, she now demands rides in the BOB and will even climb into the stroller in anticipation of her next adventure. When she was smaller, the stroller seemed to dwarf her, but that is no longer an issue. My only real complaint is the canopy, which is not designed to tilt forward to protect her from the late day sun while traveling west. Otherwise, I find this to be an excellent stroller and well worth the money.

great stroller, but...

I don't know if there is any perfect stroller out there, but the BOB SUS works for me. My stroller hating son enjoys the smooth ride and comfy seat and I love the way it takes on rough city sidewalks and the easy push when running. What I don't love is the weight and fixed wheel for everyday use, the fact that it's still enormous even when folded, and the very limited storage in the back pocket and basket. In fact, the basket is largely inaccessible when my 25-pound son is seated. I also think the straps are a little goofy and difficult to adjust. I consider the cup holder console an essential accessory as well as the SkipHop bag for extra storage. Overall, I still really like it and it's the only stroller my son loves.

We love our BOB Sport Utility Stroller. We love everything about it, it works great outdoors for me, since we live in Arizona. I use it every time I take my daughter with me to Baby Boot Camp to work out, she loves the smooth ride and I enjoy pushing her around without breaking my back. My husband takes my daughter in the BOB for a run in the mornings and he says it's very easy to push the stroller while running. So, we enjoy our BOB and would recommend to everyone I know who has kids. We will be eventually getting the double BOB once we have our second child.

BOB vs. Dreamer Design

4
Reviewer: Anonymous , Seattle, WA Date: June 23, 2006
I purchased the BOB SUS for my 15 month-old daughter because she found the seat on our Dreamer Design Rebound uncomfortable, and I found the Dreamer too large and cumbersome for travel and storage. My daughter is far more content in the BOB. She enjoys sitting upright and also likes the stiff back on the BOB's seat. (The Dreamer's seat is more reclined, and on our 2004 model the back was flexible rather than stiff.) The off-road tires on the BOB render it a litte less easy to push than the Dreamer (which has street tires), but I find them perfectly acceptable for strolling the neighborhood and jogging on paved and unpaved paths. For me, the BOB's only negative feature is that the handlebar is too high for a woman of average height and it's not adjustable. As a result, leveraging the stroller into a turn or over a curb is noticably more difficult than with our Dreamer Design (which had an adjustable handlebar). Overall however, the BOB is fabulous -- it's comfortable for my child, provides excellent sun coverage (far better than the Dreamer), and is easy for me to fold, transport, and store. Serious runners though, might want to consider the Deluxe model because of its street tires. They're a little easier to push and probably maintain momentum better than the SUS's off-road variety.

fender

I'm satisfied overall, but the fender is not attached tight enough to the frame. Periodically I have to screw it back.

Thanks for the comment, try some 'Loctite', that should hold it.

Love our bob

We have used our stroller since we brought our daughter home from the hospital (with the infant seat). She is almost a year old now. We love it. We live in the country and it is perfect for off roading. Our only wish is that we would have bought the model with the swivel front wheel.

Returned this right away!

I did lots of research before buying the BOB SUS 2006 stroller, and so I thought that I would be very pleased when it arrived. But that wasn't the case. It was very easy to assemble, looks sporty and has a great canopy, but there are 2 big downfalls that were too significant to overlook. The most important one was the fact that the waist part of the 5-piece harness (the belt) doesn't adjust, so you can't make it any smaller. Even my 3 year-old didn't fit snugly in it! I am expecting another baby in September and wanted the stroller to be able to grow with him too, but if it doesn't even fit my 3 year-old, how long will it be before my baby can be in it without the carseat adaptor? I thought that this design flaw would have been worked out by this 2006 model, but it is not, and the belt of the harness is maybe small enough to fit a child older than a 5 year-old, but no one smaller!!!!!!! The other drawback was minor, but still irritating-the handlebar. The handlebar is covered with a black foam, which might be nice if you NEVER have to turn your stroller or if you are not a "serious runner" like I am, but I ended up with large blisters on my palms from the foam rubbing on my hands and I only went for a 3 mile run (very flat and few turns!) Overall, I was very disappointed, and wanted to voice this for others of you out there that are considering buying this stroller. For the money I have seen better harnesses in strollers 1/4 the price. I returned the BOB SUS right away and I am searching for a replacement!

Comments from The Staff:

Interesting review, I asked BOB to comment on it, here's what they said.

Regarding the Waist Belt:

The waist belt part of the harness system itself, although it can be adjusted via the shoulder straps, is not supposed to be adjustable. It is merely a method to limit how far the child can slide to the side. This is an added safety measure that makes it much more difficult for the child to maneuver their way out of the harness. The belt is designed in such a way that it is not necessary for it to be snug around the childs waist. It's purpose is to keep the child more or less centered (left to right) in the stroller seat.

Regarding the Handlebar Foam:

Our handlebar foam is a balance between comfort and durability. If the foam is too soft, it's durability becomes a problem. If the foam is too hard, it is less comfortable. Our goal is to produce a product that is a good balance between the two. I can say that I've never heard of even one case of blisters from our foam handlebars.

fantastic on beach sand

I am very happy with this purchase - the jogger propels itself on the road, and rugged tires can handle the beach (in not too deep sand), folds easily, and with a little care, can fit in the trunk of my honda accord without removing the wheels. The only drawback is - my 6 mo old seems a little small for the seat and harness. The seat back has padding but the seat bottom is hammock style. In comparison to her Aprica conventional stroller (which is ergonomically designed) this seat seems less comfortable as a ride.
