First off let me say I have owned the cameleon and currently the frog and love them both. I bought the bee about a year ago for a lighter weight umbrella stroller. I don't mind the size (your kid doesn't always have to be under the canopy if he or she is like 4-use more like an umbrella stroller) and I love the look. But several months ago the left side of the handle bar stopped clicking into place. It won't stay closed and it makes it akward to push the stroller! I want to get it fixed but since I can't find my reciept I would have to purchase a whole other chassis which is over 200 bucks! What a joke to spend seriously around 600 bucks on a stroller only to have it break a year later. Other than that I love it, but people ask me all the time if I would recommend it and I can't say that I would.

I went around and around about purchasing the Bee. I am a single mom, my daughter is 15 months old, and I worried the stroller would be too small, she'd outgrow it too soon, I worried about the cost of the stroller, would I really get value out of it? I finally decided to just buy it, and if I wasn't happy, return it. So I purchased the return insurance, and it was a waste of money! I absolutely love the Bee! So does my daughter. She hated her last stroller, she doesnt like to look out, I think she likes seeing mommy. So the Bee is perfect. We went for our first ride last night after I put it together, which btw was super easy, and she loved it! It isnt teeny tiny like other people have complained, my daughter is in the 75th percentile, and she has plenty of wiggle room. Dont worry about size, or the cost! It is so worth it, the quality, ease of handling, everything is great. I only am sad I didnt buy this sooner! I am like others who've went through a couple bad strollers. Thank you Bugaboo! I am telling everyone I know! Great product!

Perfect for those on the go who live in a metropolitan city!

In my opinion, the makers of Bugaboo Strollers designed their product for people like me; ALWAYS on the go!! We live in downtown L.A. and it's so, so easy to drink my coffee held in one hand while I'm steering the stroller with the other! The features I love the most, 1) the canopy provides plenty of shade 2) It's feather light so it's perfect for a person who's very petite 3) It folds effortlessly 4) most important it's so stylish it matches me. I'd say make the investment it is so worth it!! I now have less back pains too:)

Too small!

I purchased a Bugaboo Bee in May of 2008 for my daughter, who was 21 months old at the time. She had grown out of her Cameleon (her heels were hitting the seat frame). Since I loved my Cameleon, I figured the same would be true for the Bee. Was I ever WRONG! Although true to design the basket is wonderfully accessible and the stroller folds up well, there are two major design flaws. One, the canopy dips too low. Therefore, the child's field of vision is obstructed by the canopy, which winds up brusihing the top of their head. This must be terribly annoying! The second major design flaw is in the seat. It is far too narrow and the side flaps of the seat are not anchored to the frame in any way. When the child sits in the stroller the side flaps cave into the child's body...again, making it seem awfully claustrophobic...

We purchased a Bugaboo Bee recently to supplement our Bugaboo Frog which I also love. Two Bugaboos seemed a bit extravagant to me but we are expecting our second child and our second car is a mini. The Frog's bassinet is too large to fit inside without folding a seat down. And both seats will be occupied. So we wanted something of equal quality that slotted into a tiny trunk nicely. Enter the Bee. It's great and it fits. The other NECESSARY requirement I had but found difficult to fill was that the stroller allow baby to face me but remain lightweight...I also love the amazing Bugaboo suspension which the Bee shares, and the deep recline. As for travel, we also wanted something we could maneuver airports with easily. Carrying our Frog through an airport in the travel bag feels a lot like hauling a cello. But packing it away as you're being called to board well that's just comical. Now with the Bee I anticipate an easy collapse, checking it at the gate no fuss no muss, when we travel abroad this July. Side note: it's a 2 handed collapse but a simple one handed open for me. I can carry my toddler and release it, all while pregnant. When buying it we got a free promotional baby cocoon as part of our purchase which sealed the deal. I'd also like to address size since it seems to be the biggest complaint. When purchasing our Frog 3 years ago, we had to choose between a Frog and a Chameleon and were told one of the main differences (colour choices aside) was the dimensions of the bassinet frame (which the European designers had increased very slightly in size to accommodate big American babies)...That being irrelevant to us, we opted for the slightly cheaper, lighter and smaller Frog. But as these things go I ended up having one of those massive children (10lbs plus at birth) and still he fit the bassinet just fine and we used it as his exclusive bed for the first 4 months of his life. I am finding that yet again with the Bee there is also much ado about nothing. My son is now 2 and a half and still topping the percentiles on the growth charts and he has NO problem fitting into the seat and his head doesn't touch the canopy. He loves the Bee and is forever telling me it's "comfy."

Bugaboo Bee Pluses and Minuses

I purchased my Bee in 09/2008 in the US. Since we live in Europe, we were able to buy the Maxi Cosi car seat adapter which is way better than the Graco one (easier to use and very simple construction). Not sure why it's not available in the US. Cons: Opening the Bee takes some getting used to (practice and some more practice). The basket beneath is a bit small and would've preferred that it face me. Stroller does not stand upright when folded, but I know of very few strollers that do (most seem to have to be leaned against something). Pros: It's very light weight (for being a stroller that can be used from birth-using the car seat to toddler), easy to maneuver, once you are used to it - fold easily, several positions for the baby and the handles are adjustable to the person's height. I haven't had the problems others have mentioned. I suppose if you have those kinds of problems, it would be very annoying and not worth $500+. We like our stroller, but may get a Maclauren as well since we are going to have a 2nd child and they seem to work fine for toddlers and we can still use this one for our new baby. The Gecko and Chameleon are good strollers, but they weigh much more. I agree with the one reviewer that there should be an attachable tray like other strollers. The universal cup holder by Bugaboo does stick out and sometimes I have to be careful when maneuvering through doors and etc. I recommend Thinkking cupholders (it's soft and no problems going through doors). To remedy the storage space, I bought a diaper bag with hooks that attaches to the stroller. Seems a bit ironic...bought a lightweight stroller, but then have to get accessories to make it accomodating like the heavy strollers. Finally, the construction (frame) is better built than Perego strollers (umbrella) which is mainly plastic.

Torn...

Reviewer: Anonymous , Palm Beach, FL Date: April 12, 2009
Will make this short and sweet: I purchased this stroller 8-10 months ago. My brakes fail constantly, the handle is loose and no longer sturdy, it's SOOO difficult to turn the seat around, and a plastic piece simply broke off where the seat snaps onto when open. It doesn't stand by itself when folded (if this matters to you). It DOES fold easily. Basically, watch out for the handle and the breaks. I've been reading other reviews and see that it is OBVIOUSLY a big problem. I'm going to contact Bugaboo about it. One last thing to watch out for: Our son is 14 months and literally hasn't fit in the stroller for MONTHS! He sits leaning all the way forward bc he can't lean back! Other parents are having the same problem. I'm torn because it's a great stroller in concept! It's got a beautiful ride, it's so smooth and maneuvers like no other stroller. It looks different, but it lacks a lot. I asked Bugaboo if they would consider adding a tray as an accessory you could purchase for the stroller and they told me no because it "wasn't aesthetically pleasing"!! I'm sorry, but find a way to make it "aesthetically pleasing" because parents need FUNCTIONALITY!!!!! I'm over it!!

i completely agree with the previous reviews, the Bee has a handle problem, i wasn't able to move it more than once (and my husband actually did it) it is stuck in place and not at all flexible. second, it is no easy to change the seat position as shown on the dvd in fact you have to pull so hard my thumbs hurt everytime. otherwise, i like the slidness of it, the light weight and it is easy to fold and unfold. and the seat is good i don't find it to be small although my daughter is on the big side she is very comfy. the sun and rain covers are perfect, the cup holder not so much, it is big sized and turns in all directions risking to split the hot liquids. it is a fancy cute stroller and i would buy it again in spite of all the flaws mentionned because my daughter loves it.

I bought the bugaboo bee for my daughter and I must say that I'm not all that impressed ... considering the price tag. Closing it is a bit of a problem. You literally have to practice at home before taking this thing out. Secondly, the nest is a fabulos accessory, except you can't close the stroller with the nest on! This stroller is supposed to be for people on the go, but the reality is that it is a little too complex for that. Lastly, the storage basket is tiny tiny tiny. You cannot fit a stndard diaper bag under there. On the positive side my daughter loves the ride. It maneuvers well and gives a smooth ride.
