Reviews for Baby Jogger City Mini Double stroller
Great Double Stroller

This is a great lightweight stroller that pushes easily and folds without any effort. Both my infant and my 2 1/2 year old seem comfortable in the stroller. The canopies are fantastic, the stroller fits through most doorways, and it folds easily and compactly. I agree with some of the previous reviewers that the wheels seem somewhat wobbily and the ride isn't quite as smooth as I would have expected. The basket is also a little hard to access...Some of the previous reviewers mentioned that the stroller does not lock when folded. It actually does but it is not intuitive and I had to contact Baby Jogger to figure out how to do it. There is a velcro latch under the seat of the stroller that wraps around the bars and keeps it shut. It works well but for some reason is not shown in the instruction manual. It would be nice if the stroller was carseat compatible but I haven't really needed this feature. Overall, I think this is a good basic stroller and I am quite happy with it.

I Love It!!

This is one of the best strollers out there. It can get into any door. Except bedroom doors. It is easy to push anywhere you are. We recently took it to Sea World and it was a life saver. It steers really well. The bottom line is that I would recommend it to anyone. My husband and I love it. We have a mini van and it fits perfect standing behind the seats. Thanks for making a Wonderful Stroller.

I really like this stroller!

There's no perfect double stroller out there but this is as close to perfect as I'm likely to find. Pros: fantastic canopy coverage (great in FLA.), amazing maneuverability, a true one-handed push even with a significant weight difference in your riders, easy to fold, decent basket size, smooth ride (compared to my Graco tandem), really light for a double, and it's just a pretty stroller (I got the green/grey).
Cons: no parent tray or cupholder, have to buy the belly bar as an accessory, only really able to reach basket from sides of stroller, stroller doesn't lock when closed, handle isn't adjustable, the headroom is a little less than I'd like and my son figured out how to unsnap himself very easily.
That being said, my kids are on the short side so the headroom issues that are a problem for other parents aren't as big a deal for me. Also, when I fold it closed I lock the brake and stand the stroller up in the back of my van and lift it in and out by the folding handles so I don't have a real problem with it unfolding. I have stroller clips to attach my diaper bag to the handle so I only use the basket for small items, jackets, etc. So far the kids aren't needing the belly bar and I'll just buy a clip-on cupholder at some point.

Nice but small

I was very excited to receive this stroller. It was so easy to put together, very light, but extremely well made. HOWEVER, when I read the specifications, it said the maximum weight capacity per seat was 35 pounds. (The website makes no mention of this.) I bought the stroller to accommodate our 11 month old and 2 1/2 year old, who is 39 inches tall and 35 pounds. I called baby jogger and they told me that weight was a european safety specification, but for US safety specifications, 50lbs per seat was OK. Having gotten over that hurdle, I put my 2 1/2 year old in and she was way to tall for it (39 inches). Her head more than touched the canopy and she complained that everything was too narrow. I really liked the stroller and was pretty sad to have to send it back. (I recommend getting the return shipping insurance, I didn't and had to pay more to send it back.)
If there was plenty of headroom then I would have given this stroller 5 stars. I think it's good for taking twins around, but not for older/younger siblings, unless they are quite small.
I ended up with the baby jogger classic city stroller, which has plenty of headroom for my oldest to grow into. It's heavier, but really really nice.

Good stroller, needs improvement

I purchased this stroller from this site in February 2008. Be careful if you order the red/black double, the picture on the website shows it as having a black canopy with red trim (as does the picture on the box it comes in as well as the picture on the manual). However, the canopy might be red with black trim, like the single stroller pictures online- very weird. I called to voice my complaint and Baby Jogger is sending me the black one in 6 weeks, which is a little annoying. I really like the sun canopy coverage though, the lighter weight and the design of the stroller, it looks cool and feels cool. I don't think it's the smoothest ride though, it's like they need to figure out the wheels still. I had all 4 of mine replaced because they wobbled when spun, like they weren't complete circles. The new ones seem a little better, but not perfect though. It could be a much smoother ride. We have a lot of thorns around here, so I didn't want air necessarily, but these just seem cheap for the coolness of the stroller. We'll see how it does this spring/summer.

Wish I liked it more

I was really excited by all of the great reviews but was a little disappointed. It does fold very easily but is difficult to handle once closed. There is no latch to keep it closed so it tends to open back up as you lift it and the handle slams into the ground when you close it. It also will only fold to the 11 inches thick as the manufacturer claims if the wheels are in just the right position and you put pressure on it to keep it closed this tightly. The seat fabric only snaps onto the frame and one snap keeps popping open. The left brake keeps sticking and I actually had to take the wheel off the very first time I used it to release the brake. My 24 month has very little head room and her shoulders are squished in. The basket underneath is large enought but you can't put anything large in it because there is no large openings to access it. There are just small spaces in the back and on the sides to slip things in. It does push VERY easily and turns on a dime even with an infant and a toddler. Beware, the seats only hold 33 pounds each. It reads on the box it can hold 100 pounds but the remaining 34 pounds are meant for storage things. My daughter is 27 pounds and I think that's why the snap keeps popping open. It is also exactly 30 inches wide at it's most outer points. The manufacturer website states that it is under 30 inches and every inch counts when your trying to get through a door. It is very attractive, has EXCELLENT canopies and extremely sturdy frame. Also it doesn't have the smoothest ride.

Good, needs improvement

I purchased this stroller from this website in Feb 2008. I ordered the black/red one, thinking I would get a black canopy like in the photo, but I received a red canopy. BJ is sending me a black one in 4-6 weeks. The wheels on my stroller when removed didn't spin straight, it was like they were warped so they wobbled. BJ mailed me all new wheels, 2 are fine, the other 2 still seem a little wobbly to me though. I still like the stroller for its size, weight and canopies, and I'm tired of looking for something better, so I'm going to hang onto it. I think after they work out some of bugs, this could really be a great stroller. I just really hope this 33 lb thing isn't serious since this thing is promoted all over the web at holding 50lbs in each seat!
Comments from The Staff:
I'm sorry to hear you had some initial issues with your stroller, but it sounds like everything has pretty much been taken care of by Baby Jogger. We contacted Baby Jogger regarding the weight capacity and they explained that each seat of the stroller does hold 33 lbs each which leaves room for 34 lbs of storage for a total weight capacity of 100 lbs. If you choose to put more than 33lbs in each seat just be sure to limit your storage weight not to exceed a total weight capacity of 100 lbs. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call us at 1-800-887-0218 or contact Baby Jogger directly at 1- 800-241-1848 .

Great Stroller

I had the Mclaren twin techno prior to this stroller and this is by far a more superior stroller.
It maneuvers so well in tight areas, great for the mall. The canopy generously shields your little ones from the elements and it's super easy to fold.
It's lighter than most double strollers hence making this easy for travel. The storage basket underneath is a bit difficult to place items into and I wish it had a hook to hang bags on, but other than that I really love this stroller.

Excellent double stroller!

I have looked long and hard for the "perfect" double stroller (since I found out I was pregnant with #2). I now realize that there is no such thing. However, depending on your priorities, this comes close. For reference, I have a newborn (1 month) and a 2.5 year old (24.5 lbs, so on the small side), and purchased this stroller in February, 2008.
PROS:
1. Lightweight (very easy to lift and steer, only 26 lbs)
2. Easy to maneuver (easy one handed steering)
3. Well made (sturdy, solid, doesn't feel flimsy at all, very well balanced even with 2 kids of different weights)
4. Excellent Canopies! This stroller matches the BOB in terms of how great the canopies are. Easy to open/close, very sturdy/well made, very large with multiple positions (covers my baby's face even in the reclined position), and two excellent see through windows per canopy. You also don't have these flimsy plastic clips on either side of each canopy that you have to push on to open/close the canopy.
5. Very easy to fold and put in car. You just pull these straps in the seats and voila. It is folded. It is so lightweight that you can then easily pull up on the straps to lift it up and put it in your car.
6. Seats comfortable and well padded.
7. Front wheel suspension (all wheel suspension would have been better though)
8. Great size. At 29" wide, it fits through my front door no problem. I took it to the park, Target and the grocery store. No problems. It fit through single doors, I could open the door and push it through with the 2 kids in it, it fit through all the aisles even with other carts and people in them.
CONS:
1. Not car seat compatible (but BJ tells me they are working on this double stroller accessory for mid-2008)
2. It doesn't lock when folded! When you go to take it OUT of your car (or if you wanted to store it folded or move it folded), it would just unfold.
3. The weather cover doesn't stay on in a breeze or in semi-reclined position
4. Maximum weight per seat is 33 lbs (even though total capacity is 100 lbs).
The ease of folding and the excellent canopies on the BJ made this one the choice for me.
The underneath basket in the BJ is fine. My huge Catini diaper bag is too big and won't fit through the opening, but my medium sized diaper bag fits no problem. I put that bag along with a blanket and a couple jackets with room to spare. NOTE: the best way to get in/out of the basket is through the sides, not the back. The mesh pockets on the back of the seats are great, and I bought the parent console accessory.
