LOVE IT!

After a ton of research I purchased my mountain buggy about 3 years ago and it has been worth every penny! We joke that is was like making a car payment, but I have never regretted it! We have used it everywhere (dirt roads, country hillsides & fields, the barn, the beach, mall, you name it, we've been there). It strolls like a dream - even one handed, walking up a hill, while talking on the phone! I have fit through every doorway - even bathrooms - by myself without a problem. Bystanders are amazed! I do take good care of my things, so it doesn't show a lot of wear and tear, but believe me, we have used this stroller to death! The only part showing wear is the fabric around 2 of the snaps! It has been washed with a scrub brush, dish soap, and the garden hose many times and left out in the sun to dry - works great! My 3 year old (30lbs) and 6 year old (40lbs) go everywhere in it. They can climb in and out and it has never tipped. They have even stood up in it and been fine! They have taken many naps in it and are very comfy. It is a tad heavy - but what double jogging stroller isn't? I have never had a problem with tires, sun shade, fading, or adjusting the straps. We are about to have child #3 and wouldn't even think of getting anything else!

Nice but missing a key feature

First off I want to say that for the most part it is a really nice stroller. The shocks in the back are nice, the constructions seems very good. After using it for the first time we realized that it really lacked what we needed in a stroller. After having one with brakes previously we took it for granted that this one would have them as well and it does not. We live on a hill so now every time we go walking I have to reign it in while going down hill. It is also a bit smaller than the one we had previously. We were looking for something with enough volume for our 3 and 5 year old, it works but not for long. On a good note it does fold nicely for its size fits in the trunk of an AudiA8, rolls very nicely, looks good, has great storage, and steers tremendously. For the price brakes should be on this unit, or at least an upgrade option.

The best of the best

This is my second Mountain buggy, I had the single for my first child. I then bought a Phil and Ted and a Chariot Cougar 2. Thinking that those two strollers together would do everything that I needed. I had some pretty serious quality issues with the P&T. They were resolved, but the stroller still didn't push easily with one hand, which is my litmus test for a stroller. I came to realize that I would never be able to push the P&T more than a mile or two with both kids. The Chariot is great and easy to push with 2 kids, but is not great with small babies, even with the infant sling, my son was never happy in it. I was thrilled to get my mountain buggy. It is everything I could want in a stroller, easy to push being at the top of my list! The storage is good, the ride is comfortable for both kids (especially for my baby son who loves the carry cot). I use the cot around the house as much as in the stroller. My daughter loves it, just as she adored the single and seems about the same from a comfort perspective. It is a beast to get in and out of the car, but no more difficult than the P&T, it actually takes less time. If you only go to the mall, this stroller is probably overkill, but if you like to get out and about in the city, have long days where your kids need a comfortable rest spot, or enjoy nature this is the best of the best.

Good- But Could Be Better

I was so excited to get this "Cadillac" of double strollers. At first, it was awesome. But when I went to adjust the straps for my taller son, I couldn't get the buckle through the slot. The slots are so tight, it won't go through. I had my husband and friend try-- no one could get it to go through. So now the straps are useless until we can get them threaded back through the slots. I tore up my hand trying to reach up the back of the stroller (which you have to do from the bottom- you can't do it from the top, crazy!)- and still couldn't get it to work. So now I've paid $$$ for a double stroller but can only use one side (until I have to adjust the straps on that side, too!) unless I'm on flat terrain going slowly and don't need to buckle my 3 year old in. I'm going to call the company tomorrow to see if I have any luck figuring out this problem. I've already used the stroller, so it's non-returnable at this point. I would probably NOT purchase this stroller again. I hope I'm just doing something wrong, but I've followed the directions pretty well. The second issue I've had is folding it. At first it worked great- but last night it took both my husband and I a few tries to get it folded- it just wasn't working for some reason. And the sunshade will NOT stay up- it drives me nuts. If there's any wind at all, it flips back and then the sun gets in my baby girl's eyes and she cries. OTHER than these issues- it turns great and is relatively easy to push/ maneuver. Especially for the weight load. I love the fact that it holds up to 110 lbs- more than most. So there is some good- but these other "flaws" have prevented me from giving it 5 stars. In fact, my husband last night called it a "Piece of Junk". He was frustrated trying to get it to fold and can be a little dramatic- (I certainly wouldn't go that far)...I'll see what the company says when I call them tomorrow-- hopefully they'll be of some help.

Great Stroller

Reviewer: J Shaw , Olathe, KS Date: April 24, 2009
When we found out we were having twins I did a lot of research on strollers. I finally decided on the Mountain Buggy Urban Double. I love how easy it is to maneuver. You really can push it with one hand. Everyone that has pushed my buggy has been impressed. One of the drawbacks is indeed the weight of the stroller. It is fairly heavy compared to others on the market. Another problem I have found is the tires. Within 2 weeks, I had to have the tire tubes and the stems replaced on all 4 tires. The bike store I took it to said that the stems were not in all the way and that the tubes were very cheap and flimsy. I expected a quality product (including tires) for this type of money. Once the tire tubes and stems were replaced we haven't had any more problems. Overall, the stroller is great. Would I purchase another one? Probably not, but I cannot deny that the Mountain Buggy is a quality product.

Mountain Buggy Urban Double Stroller

I love everything about this stroller, except its lack of ease in folding and storing. I love it until I have to fold it and lift it into my trunk. It washes easily. I wish there were more accessories. The tires seem to deflate often.

mountain buggy double urban elite

I just purchased this and am thrilled to no end! The structure and ease to move this is unbelieveable. I spent weeks looking for the right side by side stroller that could do everything and I am so happy that I decided to splurge on this. You have to be he-woman (or man) to lift in and out of a vehicle, but it is well worth it ( I consider it an arm workout anyway!) I just wish some of the accessories came with it for its price. I would def recommend the elite model bc the inserts themselves cost 70 to 80 bucks separately. They wash very nice, and my boys always have a clean spot to sit and ride. I have tried the rain cover and it is well ventilated and easy to put on. I also suggest the suncover as well. My boys have been so content everytime they are in it no matter what the terrain, and we have been on some bumpy rides! Def worth every penny!!!

Twins cruising along!

Reviewer: Victoria Sileo , Myrtle Beach SC Date: November 14, 2007
My daughter received this double stroller from the twin's godfather while living in NYC and has had only wonderful journeys with it. It is easy to fold up and put in the back of the Caddy SUV & Jeep as well as take out by a petite woman of 5'2'' such as myself. It also fits in my Saturn SL trunk. It is easy to scrub clean with a brush, bucket of soapy water and garden hose in the back yard. The tires are easy to pump up with air and if need be replace. She did for a nail punctured one while in the Park. I too have taken my grandchildren on many a walks through several NYC Parks which have both asphalt & grassy terrain. My grandson & granddaughter turned 2 in Oct 07 and I am purchasing a new canvas interior and undercarriage for this wonderful unit. When the twins were 8 months my daughter moved back to her home town upstate New York to raise the children: a small Victorian Village on the Hudson River. A stay at home mom, she power walks several times per week with kids in the double stroller and loves the undercarriage to carry all the twin's necessities while out & about in town, stopping at the market, the YMCA the park, the library & the river to feed the ducks. The only comment I can say to make this stroller even better is develop a canvas that doesn't fade from 2 years of sun and weather exposure! We hope to have this unit for another 2 years! The Twins, the parents and grand mother love this unit and recommend it highly!!Standing Ovations to Mountain Buggy Stroller. From the twin's "Mima" littlepocco.com

Great Stroller

I have the 2006 Urban Double and even after using it for a year, I still love this stroller. It is very easy to push, even on grass and uneven surfaces. My 3 year old is quite tall and he still sits comfortably in the stroller. The fact that it fits through standard doorways and is so easy to turn means that it works very well in malls and shops. I have had no issues with tires deflating and only pump them every few months. I agree that it is heavy and difficult to load into a vehicle, but I'm not very large and load it without too much effort. Also, it has plenty of storage. The things I don't like are: - The brake is very difficult to engage and disengage when wearing sandals because it's just metal with no plastic covering. - The canopy does not stay up very well. - The little strap that you use to secure the stroller when folded is difficult to find when the stroller is folded up. (It's black and my stroller is dark blue)
