Easy walking/jogging!

We use ours each day! We have the double version. It has a height adjustable handle, which fits my 6'4" husband well. My 3-year-old is 39 lbs. and 40 inches, and he fits with room to grow (except he can hang a foot over the footrest, and his legs don't have much room to spread out). My 20-month-old has an ideal fit. We'll use it for the newborn (if we are only walking) once he is 6 weeks, too. Ease of Use: The stroller on swivel mode is easy to push and turn. The locked mode is stable and could be useful for running on a straight path. I could not (nor could my husband) turn the stroller or even push down on the handlebar in locked mode, so I do not use that mode. We could not keep the stroller on a sidewalk. I jog on swivel and the stroller does not wobble. It turns on a dime. Sun Protection: The sun canopy is great and goes down very far. Evening/early morning sun are all that can peek beneath it. The sun canopy can be removed! It does, though, stick up very high when not in use and folded back. At 5'8" this does not hamper my view, but I can't see my kids except through a small portion of the window that's visible when the canopy is up. Also, if running with the canopy up, it would slow you down. Folding: The folding/unfolding is not hard, but it could be less awkward. After having used 1-hand trigger folds, this Kelty seems like work to fold. You need to undo four clips. It's a snap, but you must bend over to do so. Then you fold over the top, and collapse it together. The stroller does not stand when folded, so I find it takes up a lot of space to store on a floor. You also must hook a clip around the wheel so you can carry it. Quite awkward. I also lock the wheel after it's folded for ease of transporting the unit up to my porch. To unfold, you simply pull the stroller open, but I find you need to give it a small toss into the air (at 8 mos. pregnant I can do this easily), but it's terribly awkward, and I worry about knocking over my waiting toddlers. We fold/unfold for each use, and I have this down. Other info: The footrest is narrow and kids with longer legs might fight for space, and it's made of fabric so it's not as dirt-proof as I'd like. The sun canopy would be better if there were individual ones. Each seat has its own recline, though. It's the kind of recline I'd adjust once and try to leave alone. A better one-touch design would make me happier. The Protect-a-Bub double rain cover fits well on it, and it's easy to install. I prefer this cover over the Kelty one. The harness is padded and looks very nice. I can't seem to keep the straps from being slightly twisted though. My 3-year-old can do his by himself, so I'd prefer something that's more difficult to get on/off simply for safety. There is a brake on each back wheel (takes some effort to take the brakes off with your foot, but that's good so my toddler doesn't ever try if he's behind it). There is a nice little bell on the handlebar. I have not been able to fit through all doors with it, but it's meant for outdoors. I felt the Schwinn Free Wheeler AL double handled better for runners, as you can actually steer quite well on locked mode. The materials were cheaper though, and it was heavier. This stroller is very lightweight for a double jogger, and that is very important to us. For walking around the block or jogging, this is a great stroller. We were not looking for a giant chariot that weighed 30-something pounds, so we found this a better choice than the Bob double strollers. I do feel the stroller is overpriced, but we HAD to have the adjustable handlebar, and I wanted a lightweight one. This one fits the bill. We hope to enjoy it for years (and kids) to come. Kelty has a lifetime warranty.

Good stroller, but some issues

The kelty is a really nice stroller, but has some issues: Cons: wide and tall compared to other double strollers such as the Schwinn and Bob. We managed to fit through a Walgreens door, but it won't fit through the standard door at my house. Another issue is the canopy. It provides excellent sun coverage, but when in the up position sticks out pretty high. It doesn't have a bracket to help it fold to a smaller height. It is kind of obnoxious for my wife who is 5'4" tall. Doesn't bother me being 6'1". There are about 6 steps to take when folding the stroller up. You have to unlatch 2 clamps on each side, then push forward and then pull back. Also have to secure a provided buckle through one of the wheels when picking up to ensure it doesn't open again. It does fold to a nice size and is pretty light. Tires are very easy to remove Pros: Very large and easy to access storage area under stroller. Compared to the Bob, it's huge! Stroller is light and drives and handles very nicely. Seats look comfortable and appear nicely padded and so do the straps. Nice window through canopy to look at the kids. Overall its a really nice stroller, but the canopy when folded and extra wide width are the major issues for us. For about 100 more the Bob is a much nicer stroller (but you would think for that money they could figure out how to have a large storage bin underneath - with easier access)
