this is an URBAN stroller

We are replacing our single BOB SUS D'lux with this stroller b/c we have a 2 year-old and are expecting a baby. We live in a small city in Montana and use our stroller daily for a combination of walking to shops, library, and on trails and in parks. Performance-wise, this stroller is way way way below the BOB SUS. The frame is clicky (the handlebars wobble) and the small wheels leave a lot to be desired when it comes to snowbanks and trails, etc. The sport title is a joke--you will never jog with this stroller. I am 5'8" and my feet hit the rear axle as I walk. The BOB has a lot more (and more convenient) storage. However, the doubles kit is clever and there really isn't anything else like it on the market. Our 2 year-old climbed right into it in both positions. I anticipate using the doubles seat in the rear well before baby#2 is 6 months--the seat really is too small for our 2 year-old for more than just quick trips around town. You wouldn't want any child so low to the ground in any kind of snowy winter. Ultimately, I anticipate purchasing a used double jogger with 16 or 20 inch wheels as a winter stroller and keeping this one for when we have to go inside, travel, and summertime.

Great double buggy for toddler and baby

Reviewer: Anonymous , swansea, uk Date: January 02, 2009
A great double buggy if you have a toddler and a new baby. Our toddler was plenty old enough to walk and could walk for miles IF he wanted to. However with the terrible twos and general insecurity of becoming a big brother we needed the option of being able to push him/strap him in if he was refusing to go anywhere - and this works well. It is really flexible if you get the doubles kit. We got the cacoon for the baby and if you use the pram alone that means you can lie the baby flat facing you. If you use it with the toddler as well they kind of sit on top of the baby - but both are very comfortable. We have also used it with just the baby in the main seat reclined - it reclines to a flat position which is great when they are little. We have also used it with the doubles seat on the back. It says to only put baby in from 6 months but as the new doubles seat reclines then she was fine from 3 months but is a big baby. She fitted in the cacoon until 4 months (but was 18 pounds at 4 months and growing out of 6 - 9 month sleepsuits). Toddler is a tall heavy boy - he is 2.5 years now and fits fine in the main seat. He wouldnt really fit in the back seat and was slightly awkward looking in the front doubles seat but ok. However he wears size 3 - 4 clothes and is growing out of those (I have big babies!) so most toddlers would be fine. The first time the toddler saw it he shouted my new buggy, wow and climbed in! Strangers often comment on it as its so compact and lovely looking. Can be pushed with one hand. Light for a double - easy to put in boot of car Folds easily once you know how to do it Can be pushed easily around shops and through doors unlike some doubles. Downsides - very few. Some people think baby is too close to floor in doubles mode but I dont think so. Straps are a bit flimsy and cheap looking but do the job. The brake leaver seems a bit flimsy and is difficlt to put on but again does the job. Cannot hang your shopping from the handle (but maybe a good thing). Once baby is bigger there is little room for shopping but you can get bags for it.

A complete nightmare!

Ughhh....I was so excited about getting the 2008 Phil & Ted's SP, then it arrived at my home.....the idea is great but the workmanship is surely not. What a concept to have four different ways to carry the tot(s) around but try putting the brake on - not easy and near impossible with a little one in the doubler seat or if you have shoes or boots on! It's great that there are different adjustments to put a tot down to nap, but try putting him or her back in an upright position! It's really not easy, and very cumbersome and jarring for the little one. One of the worst bits of workmanship was the design for folding the stroller. There is no way you're going to be able to do it without chewing up the push handle as there is barely a way to do it without scraping it on the ground. The tiny, and I emphasize tiny, buttons you have to hold and turn and push in to fold it is another real winner. Speaking of tiny, the fasteners on the harness are made for a child's fingers, not adults. This stroller is full of tiny, flimsy plastic parts that will surely break and a fabric foot step that has no way of being taken off to be cleaned (think of muddy shoes - yikes!). The double seat now has a reclined position, one that once is reclined will leave your child hitting their head on the bar. Try putting the seat in the toddler front position and their head will be hitting the sun canopy. For a VERY expensive stroller this should have been made with more quality and with plain old better thinking and design!!! We're going to try a Bob as we've seen good reviews for their strollers. Bottom line, this stroller is a fabulous idea, but in reality the stroller just isn't worth a dollar until MANY kinks are worked out, better materials are used and a better design is implemented. What a HUGE disappointment!

Big disapointment!!

I bought the Phil and Teds Sport a week ago and I am already regretting it!! I bought it for my newborn baby. Had to buy the car seat attachment which only clips in on one side so while walking you can hear it sligtly moving around on the one side. With car seat in place there is no sun coverage for the baby cover is way to small. The peek a boo window is right at handlebars so when I look at my baby I can't see him only the carseat. The mechanism to change front wheel is frustrating you have to get on the floor and turn it until you get the pin in not good for those without perfect vision!! Opening and closing stroller is challenging!! I am a big walker and I am dissapointed with how this handles my older graco was better and for a jogging stroller I wish I bought the Bobs!!!

rides well

The stroller rides well, esp. on bumpy sidewalks. I like the handle grip and safety strap. It's easy to get my newborn in and out (I've only used it for a newborn in the reclining position). However, some issues: 1) Need two hands to put on break or remove it 2) When newborn bed is down, hard to get to the storage area 3) stroller should come with sun cover (even a basic one)

Good concept but bad stroller

Our kids are 2.5 yrs and 5 months old. We had a BOB revolution and LOVED it, just loved it. I convinced my husband that we needed the P&T Sport to make it easier to push the girls together once our youngest daughter got too heavy for the snugglie. We don't like the idea of a side-by-side as it is too wide and we do a lot of daily walking. So here we are almost $600 later and, sadly, the Sport has done nothing but disapoint. We had a flat tire after the second time we took it on a walk and it was not easy to find an inner tire valve to replace it with. The front wheel goes 'clunk' over the smallest of sidewalk cracks and I fear that one day the wheel will fall right off when I go up and over a curb. It can be pushed with one hand but not easily and it certainly doesn't compare to the manouverability of the BOB. As one reviewer said, and I agree, we were spoiled by the BOB. The brake on the Sport is a joke, as is the canopy. When the doubles kit is on you can't use your foot to set or release it so I have to bend down and use my hands to do it. When the Sport is in toddler-toddler mode and the front seat is reclined it is virtually impossible to put the seat back upright as the clips rarely click back together without a struggle. The material feels shoddy and the handlebar already has a nick in it from one of the three times that I have folded it. I could go on and on....I'm super disapointed in this stroller and feel that even though the concept is great (pushing 2 kids without having to post a 'wide-load' sign), this stroller needs a ton of improvements. I am left wondering, will it even last the season if this is how it performs after only two weeks?????

TERRIFIC!!

We purchased our Phil & Ted's e3 stroller (the SP Single w/ double attachment) 3 1/2 years ago in the States when we had our first child. We now have a 1 1/2 year old boy and are living in another country with city streets seemingly worse than most trails. : ) This stroller, with it's double attachment, is still serving our family today as we are excited about moving our oldest child out of it permanently and having a soon-to-be third child enjoying it with our middle child. We have used this stroller multiple times a week (sometimes day) since we first purchased it. Very sturdy and always a joy! If traveling with on an airplane (we used it in the airport) I would recommend taking it's rear wheels off before handing it over to the airline and also wrapping it's handle with a protective covering. While both wheels and handlebar foam survived, the foam has never looked pretty since then. We had also purchased the rain guard and travel bag but returned the travel bag as it seemed cheap and pointless and have never used the rain guard as it also is an odd bit. The attachment fitting with our baby car seat though has been used often when our children are that age. Sturdy, comfortable, practicable. Highly recommended!

Good Stroller

We bought this stoller because we have a two and a half year old and a two month old so we also bought the double seat to turn it into a duo stroller. This stroller is very functional and sturdy. The versatility of it is unbeatable. It is not as maneuverable as my Schwinn Free Wheeler, probably due to the fact that the wheels are all the same size and tires are a little thinner. Also, the instructions are pretty sparse, thougth the stroller wasn't difficult to assemble. The brake is sticky and a little too hard to disengage - I hope this loosens with time. Everyone complains about the sunshade and even though this model was supposed to address this, it is still not great. I may purchase an after market sunshade to accomodate for this. All in all I like it, but for the price it would be nice if they addressed some of these issues.

So far, so good! Our only regret is why we didn't purchase this years ago (we are expecting baby #5 soon). After using a traditional jogger and double stroller for the first four kids we found ourselves frustrated with navigation ease and stroller "footprint". This Phil and Teds SP Single Stroller addresses both issues very well. We are avid Disney people, and trying to navigate the parks, etc with past strollers was, at times, mind-numbing. The Phil and Teds with rear seat is smooth, easy to stear (my 7 yr old does it with relative ease) and has a small footprint. After receiving the stroller, we noticed a buckle broken and called P&T for support. They were incredibly easy to work with - very few questions asked - and shipped me a replacement part ASAP. Overall, I believe the quality/build is well above average (however the verdict is still out on this as we have only owned it about 6 weeeks). The buckles for the rear seat are a bit small for my large hands. I understand the latest model has a break (making slow/stop a bit easier on slopes) - but this is minor compared to the overall ease of use and size for what it accomplishes. I will post a follow up review after our next Disney trip in a couple of months. Bottom line - my first take on this stroller is two thumbs up... it makes our life a bit easier!
