Best Stroller Ever!

Love, love, love this stroller! I just received it within 2 days from this website. I've purchased from here before and was very please with them the first time, and since I had such a good experience, I ordered another stroller again. Free shipping both times, which was great.
This stroller is so great. It can be a single stroller, jogging stroller, double stroller all in one! It can fit through doors (some side by side double strollers make it difficult) and it pushes very well. I was able to get the double kit free with the stroller as a promotion right now. It's so worth it. I have a 3 year old and a 7 month old and they were both comfortable. I thought I might bang my legs into the double on the back, but I never touched it once! I was sooo impressed with this stroller and when I walked my kids down the street I overheard someone say, "look at that stroller!." I had 3 more people in a store tell me how cool it was, and how nice and convenient. You will not be disappointed when you purchase this. Also comes in a few colors to choose from. It's also easy to fold and open one you know what you're doing.
I also took advantage of the $5 return shipping in case it didn't work out, but obviously I'm not sending it back. I appreciate this option though, b/c shipping it back probably would have cost me $60 if it didn't work out.

P and T are so great for ingenuity and convenience. We have their tent/travel bed which has been great, but this stroller didn't meet my expectations. What a great idea though - lightweight, not as cumbersome as other double strollers. The workmanship is questionable - one of the snaps became bent so it doesn't hold in place the canopy. We were very close to the max in weight for both kids and my 8 month old got a bit claustrophobic with her almost 40 pound brother sitting on top - it just sat too low for her comfort. The brake is hard to maneuver - have to use my hands to get it to work - bending over. I only used it twice and just used my Schwinn stroller for walks/runs. The canopy on the P & T doesn't cover much area as well. I love Phil and Ted's products, but this one fell short.
Comments from The Staff:
Thank you so much for taking time to share your thoughts on the phil&teds sport buggy with us! For the issue you are experiencing with the canopy snaps, if you have had your buggy for less than one year, it is still under warranty and we recommend contacting phil&teds customer service for a replacement. You can reach phil&teds via email at uscare@philandteds.com or by phone at (800) 839-4985. The inline design of the stroller is unique and many children enjoy the seating position, however it is a personal preference whether children find it comfortable or not, and we?re sorry to hear that your child is not comfortable with it. As for the brake, the manufacturer designed it to be a little difficult to set because of the inline design, to prevent the child sitting in the back from accidentally setting the brake. Also, we will forward your comments on to the manufacturer about the sun canopy. We believe this may be something they are looking to improve on for the future.
Thanks!

Lexus of Strollers
Reviewer: Anonymous ,

I tried to go the cheaper route with my first child and like most mom's wound up getting rid of my stroller after seriously considering to set it on fire. The Phil & Teds Sport is so much more comfortable for me AND my 3 year old. We love to walk on trails and that was not possible with normal strollers. And now that I am pregnant, I love getting a work out pushing him in this stroller. Can't wait to put the
doubles kit into good use when our next little guy gets here! I am not exaggerating that this stroller is EVERY BIT worth the price and it seriously feels like driving a new Lexus after years in a 1989 Bronco. :) Do yourself a favor and get this stroller the first time instead of trying to be thrifty and doing it later anyway.

Absolutely perfect... (despite its imperfections)
Reviewer: Katie B. ,

While I agree with many of the complaints (difficult brake mechanism, awkward fold, mediocre sunshade) I still find this to be the perfect stroller.
I bought this when my oldest was 4 & my second was due shortly. While pregnant, I used it as a single stroller. After the baby, I was able to use in infant / toddler mode. As my oldest lost interest in being in a stroller, I went back to using as a single. THEN we ended up with back to back babies... so after our third was born, we went right back to infant / toddler mode.
Right now, we've graduated into toddler/toddler mode. After the second becomes too old for a stroller, I'll go back to using as a single again. Plus -although I have two toddlers right now, if I'm out with just one of them, I can have a single stroller in just a push of a button. (Or I can use the doubles seat as storage for shopping or lugging packages to the post office.) The versatility is amazing - even if the braking mechanism is not.
If you have only one kid, I can think of lots of other strollers that can do more for you... but if you're ever planning on having more, you might want to start with this one. It'll save you some serious money in the long run. Ours has stood up to some serious abuse & we just LOVE it. Best uses: theme parks, zoo, shopping, downtown, events, parks, neighborhood walks, museums. It has kept me completely mobile - and that's saying a lot for someone with three young kids.

My mom bought us this stroller when my first son was about 10 months old. I wish I had it from the beginning. Now, I have two kids and it is even better! We have had this stroller for almost 2 years and I use it for everything. It does not fold up very small, no sturdy stroller does, but it does fold pretty flat.
One reviewer wrote that it is great for the mall but not so great for running. It is important to know that it is not a jogging stroller (and it says in the owner's manual) but it is an insult to call it a mall stroller.
Not only does this stroller stand up to most terrains from the smooth to the extremely bumpy, but it is so versatile. I can still use it as a single stroller, and even when it is a double stroller, I can still maneuver it through doorways and tight spaces. I love it!

Sun shade doesn't work with toddler on top

We have the sport stroller and it was great with our first child. We now have a newborn so we just bought the kit that adds a second seat. We have just realized that when our newborn is in the laying down position and our toddler is above her in the seat, you can't use the sun shade for the toddler! This is a deal breaker for us and something I wish the company would make more obvious in the description! I wouldn't have bought the stroller in the first place if I would have known this was the case.

When I was pregnant with my second child, I did a lot of research for a double stroller. I couldn't find one that I liked better that this one, so we just bit the bullet and bought the Sport Buggy. Let me tell you- it was worth EVERY penny- well- every dollar!!! I have used it traveling, cruising the mall, as well as running- and I haven't had ANY problems at all! I love it, and have told everyone that if they plan on having more than one child, that it would be silly to buy any other stroller! I wish I would have known about it when I bought a single jogger for my first son! My kids now are 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 and they both love it too!!! Can't say enought about it, it really is a fantastic stroller!!!

I shopped and shopped for a double stroller. I had heard great things about this stoller but tried to find something cheeper. I finally sucked it up and bought it. I am so glad i did. It is so smooth and turns so sharp. I have a toddler and a infant and i can't say enough good things about it. One more thing i have a kia sportage and it fits nicely, also fits in the trunk of a car.

This is a fantastic stroller. I've read the reviews and every complaint is because the owners are not doing it right. If you take the time to figure out each attachement and how the stroller works this thing is amazing. Even better with two kids. You do need to keep the tires inflated or else it can get hard to push but when they are inflated the stroller is super light.

I don't know why I got fixated on this stroller but I had to buy online ( we live in the middle of nowhere) so I did a ton of research and really liked what I heard about this. Needless to say I could definitely have spent my money more wisely. This stroller is fine for cruising the mall - which we rarely do, and for tall parents, though I am 5'10" and my husband 6'3" and it still isn't great for a long stride like when running. I guess if you had two kids in a stroller this might be good but I don't. My son seems to sit to low in the seat and I can't get the back straight up and down enough where he could actually see well. My son is 1 year old, approx. 25lbs. I wish I would have gotten a BOB, a Kolcraft Jeep Overland or a Schwinn and have considered trying to sell this but I know I will lose money. Please really consider your purchase and don't just by the brand.

this is an URBAN stroller

We are replacing our single BOB SUS D'lux with this stroller b/c we have a 2 year-old and are expecting a baby. We live in a small city in Montana and use our stroller daily for a combination of walking to shops, library, and on trails and in parks.
Performance-wise, this stroller is way way way below the BOB SUS. The frame is clicky (the handlebars wobble) and the small wheels leave a lot to be desired when it comes to snowbanks and trails, etc. The sport title is a joke--you will never jog with this stroller. I am 5'8" and my feet hit the rear axle as I walk. The BOB has a lot more (and more convenient) storage.
However, the doubles kit is clever and there really isn't anything else like it on the market. Our 2 year-old climbed right into it in both positions. I anticipate using the
doubles kit in the rear well before baby#2 is 6 months--the seat really is too small for our 2 year-old for more than just quick trips around town. You wouldn't want any child so low to the ground in any kind of snowy winter.
Ultimately, I anticipate purchasing a used double jogger with 16 or 20 inch wheels as a winter stroller and keeping this one for when we have to go inside, travel, and summertime.

Great double buggy for toddler and baby
Reviewer: Anonymous ,
swansea, uk
Date: January 02, 2009
A great double buggy if you have a toddler and a new baby. Our toddler was plenty old enough to walk and could walk for miles IF he wanted to. However with the terrible twos and general insecurity of becoming a big brother we needed the option of being able to push him/strap him in if he was refusing to go anywhere - and this works well.
It is really flexible if you get the
doubles kit. We got the
cocoon for the baby and if you use the pram alone that means you can lie the baby flat facing you. If you use it with the toddler as well they kind of sit on top of the baby - but both are very comfortable. We have also used it with just the baby in the main seat reclined - it reclines to a flat position which is great when they are little. We have also used it with the doubles seat on the back. It says to only put baby in from 6 months but as the new doubles seat reclines then she was fine from 3 months but is a big baby.
She fitted in the cacoon until 4 months (but was 18 pounds at 4 months and growing out of 6 - 9 month sleepsuits).
Toddler is a tall heavy boy - he is 2.5 years now and fits fine in the main seat. He wouldnt really fit in the back seat and was slightly awkward looking in the front doubles seat but ok. However he wears size 3 - 4 clothes and is growing out of those (I have big babies!) so most toddlers would be fine.
The first time the toddler saw it he shouted my new buggy, wow and climbed in! Strangers often comment on it as its so compact and lovely looking.
Can be pushed with one hand.
Light for a double - easy to put in boot of car
Folds easily once you know how to do it
Can be pushed easily around shops and through doors unlike some doubles.
Downsides - very few. Some people think baby is too close to floor in doubles mode but I dont think so. Straps are a bit flimsy and cheap looking but do the job. The brake leaver seems a bit flimsy and is difficlt to put on but again does the job. Cannot hang your shopping from the handle (but maybe a good thing). Once baby is bigger there is little room for shopping but you can get
blazing saddles buggy pannier bags for it.

A complete nightmare!
Reviewer: Anonymous ,
Garrison, NY

Ughhh....I was so excited about getting the 2008 Phil & Ted's SP, then it arrived at my home.....the idea is great but the workmanship is surely not. What a concept to have four different ways to carry the tot(s) around but try putting the brake on - not easy and near impossible with a little one in the doubler seat or if you have shoes or boots on! It's great that there are different adjustments to put a tot down to nap, but try putting him or her back in an upright position! It's really not easy, and very cumbersome and jarring for the little one. One of the worst bits of workmanship was the design for folding the stroller. There is no way you're going to be able to do it without chewing up the push handle as there is barely a way to do it without scraping it on the ground. The tiny, and I emphasize tiny, buttons you have to hold and turn and push in to fold it is another real winner. Speaking of tiny, the fasteners on the harness are made for a child's fingers, not adults. This stroller is full of tiny, flimsy plastic parts that will surely break and a fabric foot step that has no way of being taken off to be cleaned (think of muddy shoes - yikes!). The double seat now has a reclined position, one that once is reclined will leave your child hitting their head on the bar. Try putting the seat in the toddler front position and their head will be hitting the sun canopy. For a VERY expensive stroller this should have been made with more quality and with plain old better thinking and design!!! We're going to try a Bob as we've seen good reviews for their strollers. Bottom line, this stroller is a fabulous idea, but in reality the stroller just isn't worth a dollar until MANY kinks are worked out, better materials are used and a better design is implemented. What a HUGE disappointment!

I bought the Phil and Teds Sport a week ago and I am already regretting it!! I bought it for my newborn baby. Had to buy the car seat attachment which only clips in on one side so while walking you can hear it sligtly moving around on the one side. With car seat in place there is no sun coverage for the baby cover is way to small. The peek a boo window is right at handlebars so when I look at my baby I can't see him only the carseat. The mechanism to change front wheel is frustrating you have to get on the floor and turn it until you get the pin in not good for those without perfect vision!! Opening and closing stroller is challenging!! I am a big walker and I am dissapointed with how this handles my older graco was better and for a jogging stroller I wish I bought the Bobs!!!

The stroller rides well, esp. on bumpy sidewalks. I like the handle grip and safety strap. It's easy to get my newborn in and out (I've only used it for a newborn in the reclining position). However, some issues:
1) Need two hands to put on break or remove it
2) When newborn bed is down, hard to get to the storage area
3) stroller should come with sun cover (even a basic one)

Good concept but bad stroller
Reviewer: Kay ,

Our kids are 2.5 yrs and 5 months old. We had a BOB revolution and LOVED it, just loved it. I convinced my husband that we needed the P&T Sport to make it easier to push the girls together once our youngest daughter got too heavy for the snugglie. We don't like the idea of a side-by-side as it is too wide and we do a lot of daily walking. So here we are almost $600 later and, sadly, the Sport has done nothing but disapoint. We had a flat tire after the second time we took it on a walk and it was not easy to find an inner tire valve to replace it with. The front wheel goes 'clunk' over the smallest of sidewalk cracks and I fear that one day the wheel will fall right off when I go up and over a curb. It can be pushed with one hand but not easily and it certainly doesn't compare to the manouverability of the BOB. As one reviewer said, and I agree, we were spoiled by the BOB. The brake on the Sport is a joke, as is the canopy. When the doubles kit is on you can't use your foot to set or release it so I have to bend down and use my hands to do it. When the Sport is in toddler-toddler mode and the front seat is reclined it is virtually impossible to put the seat back upright as the clips rarely click back together without a struggle. The material feels shoddy and the handlebar already has a nick in it from one of the three times that I have folded it. I could go on and on....I'm super disapointed in this stroller and feel that even though the concept is great (pushing 2 kids without having to post a 'wide-load' sign), this stroller needs a ton of improvements. I am left wondering, will it even last the season if this is how it performs after only two weeks?????

TERRIFIC!!

We purchased our Phil & Ted's e3 stroller (the SP Single w/ double attachment) 3 1/2 years ago in the States when we had our first child. We now have a 1 1/2 year old boy and are living in another country with city streets seemingly worse than most trails. : ) This stroller, with it's double attachment, is still serving our family today as we are excited about moving our oldest child out of it permanently and having a soon-to-be third child enjoying it with our middle child. We have used this stroller multiple times a week (sometimes day) since we first purchased it. Very sturdy and always a joy!
If traveling with on an airplane (we used it in the airport) I would recommend taking it's rear wheels off before handing it over to the airline and also wrapping it's handle with a protective covering. While both wheels and handlebar foam survived, the foam has never looked pretty since then.
We had also purchased the rain guard and travel bag but returned the travel bag as it seemed cheap and pointless and have never used the rain guard as it also is an odd bit. The attachment fitting with our baby car seat though has been used often when our children are that age.
Sturdy, comfortable, practicable. Highly recommended!

Good Stroller
Reviewer: Anonymous ,

We bought this stoller because we have a two and a half year old and a two month old so we also bought the double seat to turn it into a duo stroller. This stroller is very functional and sturdy. The versatility of it is unbeatable. It is not as maneuverable as my Schwinn Free Wheeler, probably due to the fact that the wheels are all the same size and tires are a little thinner. Also, the instructions are pretty sparse, thougth the stroller wasn't difficult to assemble. The brake is sticky and a little too hard to disengage - I hope this loosens with time. Everyone complains about the sunshade and even though this model was supposed to address this, it is still not great. I may purchase an after market sunshade to accomodate for this.
All in all I like it, but for the price it would be nice if they addressed some of these issues.

So far, so good! Our only regret is why we didn't purchase this years ago (we are expecting baby #5 soon). After using a traditional jogger and double stroller for the first four kids we found ourselves frustrated with navigation ease and stroller "footprint". This
Phil and Teds SP Single Stroller addresses both issues very well. We are avid Disney people, and trying to navigate the parks, etc with past strollers was, at times, mind-numbing. The Phil and Teds with rear seat is smooth, easy to stear (my 7 yr old does it with relative ease) and has a small footprint. After receiving the stroller, we noticed a buckle broken and called P&T for support. They were incredibly easy to work with - very few questions asked - and shipped me a replacement part ASAP. Overall, I believe the quality/build is well above average (however the verdict is still out on this as we have only owned it about 6 weeeks). The buckles for the rear seat are a bit small for my large hands. I understand the latest model has a break (making slow/stop a bit easier on slopes) - but this is minor compared to the overall ease of use and size for what it accomplishes. I will post a follow up review after our next Disney trip in a couple of months. Bottom line - my first take on this stroller is two thumbs up... it makes our life a bit easier!

Brilliant Concept, Poor Execution
Reviewer: meg ,
New York, NY
Date: August 09, 2008
I have owned a Phil and Teds Sport since Febuary 08. Now, less than 5 months later, both zippers in the front seat are broken. Part of the plastic snapped off on the foot brake on a really cold day (making it virtually impossible to engage/disengage). The paint is chipping off the frame and (this is mainly just annoying) the plastic circle covering the place that holds the wheel on has gone missing. You should also be aware before purchasing that the plastic rain cover does not completely cover the back seat in the reclined position. Not such a big deal when you have an older child but horrible when rain runs down the back of your 4 month old.
I was really excited about this stroller because we live in an urban area and standing to the side with my MBUD was getting pretty old. I still love the idea behind this stroller I just wish they had better quality control and used better materials. As far as maneuverability goes, it's okay but does not pass the morning latte test.

Almost a perfect stroller just use it right
Reviewer: Anonymous ,
Leravenworth, KS
Date: July 19, 2008
This Phil & Ted's SP is a great stroller. Most of the complaints by reviewers are due to improper use of the stroller. The double seat set in the back is for use when your smallest is old enough to sit partially upright. If the double seat set in the back position doesn't recline enough, put the baby in the main seat fully reclined and set the toddler seat in front. once the baby is big enough to almost touch the bar over the top of the main seat, it is time to stop reclining the seat. The lack of a rear sunshade isn't any more of an issue than with any other stroller that has an average size sun shade as the lower seat is shaded by the upper seat. If you want more shade, then purchase the
sun/bug shade . A real shortcoming of the sun shade is the lack of a zipper on the sunshade (as opposed to on the rain cover) that lets the kids in and out without completely removing the shade. Slightly annoying but easy to work around. For those who complain about the size of wheels, please note that the entire stroller, including the double seat, folds into a
travel bag the size of a quitar case. With larger wheels the stroller could not fold into as small a size. It is easy to carry, easy to check on airplanes, and easy to reassemble in about 1.5 minutes (without the rear tire guards). There is a ton of room for storage when using the
pannier bags . The stroller is easily manueverable with one hand no matter whether you have one or two kids riding along. Care is required when folding to prevent the foam handle pad from scraping on the pavement, but despite the lack of carrying handles there are several ways to grip and carry the stroller for extended periods. I have traveled with this as the only stroller for my baby and 3 year old on extended trips and have had great success. The only true design flaw is the brake system. A footpedal and cable (like the
quinny buzz ) would fix that problem better than the hand brake on the
phil&ted's vibe and be easier to engineer. Over all a great stroller, just add the accessories.

I have a 17 month old and a new baby. The Phil and Teds Sport stroller is great as they can both ride comfortably at the same time. Two small down-sides are that the break is very difficult to put on and off when you have an infant in the lying down position and the stroller is difficult to bump up onto a curb.
The one thing that I hate about the stroller is the instructons. They are awful! It took two of us much longer than it should have to put everything together and figure out the different features.

I have a two year old and a new born. In the newborn position, with the double seat on top, all went well. However, with the double seat in the rear position, there is too much open space. Some might think that's good. I don't. When you walk during the day, there is no way to shield the little ones from the sun. When I spent close to $500 on the Phil and Teds Sport, I did not think I would have to shell out another $60 to get a sun cover.(and another $50 for the rain cover) Very disappointing. In my opinion it should come with a rain and sun cover, since there is no way to use it outside consistently. Other than that, I'm happy with it's maneuverability.

I love this jogger. I have taken this stroller through airports with ease. It folds up easliy and pops into place quickly. I purchased this stroller when my baby was 4 weeks old and have used it daily for the last 13 months. The stroller is still in excellent condition. When it arrived there was a manufacturer's defect. I phoned the company and they immediately sent replacements. I have had a great experience with the customer service.

It has it's place
Reviewer: Busy Mom ,

This is my third stroller. My other two are the BOB ironman (single) and the Peg Perego P3. I bought this stroller and the second seat last year (2007)when my second child was born. The reason for choosing this over a double BOB was it's small "footprint" and ability to seat two.
That said, I do not feel it's high price is justified by it's engineering. If you want a well made stroller buy a BOB. If you want a stroller that you can take to the mall with two small children buy this.
Neither of my children liked the baby-toddler mode. This year they take turns sitting in the front and back as neither really enjoys the back seat (visibility is limited.) My older daugther walks more now so usually she gets the back seat when she is tired (I have never had any tipping problems-but she is also very light).
The handlebar bag is kinda hokey and dangles too low, all beverages must be tightly capped. The brake is hard to put on. The handlebars could do with a telescoping feature (In toddler-toddler mode you have to hunch over a bit to reach the handle bars).
The sunvisor is very skimpy and offers very limited protection (really the BOB spoiled me). A removable plastic snack tray would be a nice touch and easy for the company to add on or sell as an accessory.
This stroller is not perfect but with a few changes could be.
What I love is the small size, short turning radius and the narrow profile. Easy to push and turn with one hand, the stroller rolls well. I give it 4 stars because it keeps us all mobile and in one neat package.

Functional, Yet Hard To Steer
Reviewer: Tim ,

Date: April 22, 2008
Purchased New P&T Sport in April 2007. A word to the wise: TEST DRIVE BEFORE YOU BUY. If you're okay with the steering, it'll be a good stroller for you.
PROS:
1) Compact double, with narrow profile of single stoller
2) Adjustable handlebar
3) Lay flat feature nice for infant
4) Easy to collapse
5) Very versatile & functional
CONS:
1) Wheels need to be bigger for a smoother ride
2) Tires lose air pressure over time
3) Fabric seam pulled apart in two different places within the first MONTH of use. Found out at month eleven that neither fabric, nor easily torn foam handlebar cover are covered under one year warranty
4) VERY HARD TO MANEUVER. Front wheel hangs up when changing direction abruputly. VERY frustrating. Mutiple emails to Phil&Teds customer service not returned. Tried greasing the pin/sheave (should be a roller bearing like some other strollers), tried overinflating front tire, neither helped. The stroller works fine, it's just a fight to steer it. I can effortlessly drive my brother's BOB Revolution around with one hand, while our Sport requires two hands and WAAAAAY more effort. I've seen this in other reviews as well, so I think it's a design flaw, not a stroller specific issue.

A few low points

I bought this stroller for my 3 year old girl and 2 month old baby boy thinking it would be the perfect solution, but it wasn't. Although overall this is a good stroller there are a number of things that are not functional:
the front seat (i.e. the regular single stroller seat) is small and if you have a tall toddler you cannot use the sunshade and it's not very comfortable (my 3 year old is 40inch tall).
The reclining mechanism is very poorly designed - it's impossible to lift the seat up with the child actually in the seat. Which makes it difficult when your baby has just woken up from a nap and wants to sit up: you have to take the child out of the stroller and you still need 2 hands to clip the clips in (there's really no way you can lift the seat up while you are holding your baby). Many other strollers have a much more functional system where you just pull a line and the seat comes up/down.
The foot break is very hard to manouvre, I still need to bend down and lock it/unlock it by hand.
The back seat doesn't recline much and I still haven't been able to use it with my 5 month old baby as it's too upright. When I placed my 3 year old in the front doubles seat and my baby in the fully reclined position in the main seat, the baby had very little room above him. So I have only been able to use the stroller as a single stroller, which to me defeats the purpose. I think the concept of this stroller is great, but it needs to be perfected.

A great investment

I do love this stroller. I have a 2 year-old and a 6-week old, and the thing I like best is all of the different configurations. Sometimes I only have my 6-week old with me and I really like the versatility, I can just pop the car seat in and go, no need to swap strollers in my car etc... The Doubles-kit is semi easy to change on the go. My 6-week old loves to lie flat and she really hates to be confined in anything so she loves it and rocks off to sleep everytime! The canopy when the doubles kit sits in front is a little short for my daughter who is tall for her age (34"). Hopefully she will fit long enough for my newborn to move to the rear seat. A couple of things I dont like: 1. No canopy on the rear seat for sun protection. 2. Instructions are not easy to follow - photos are too small and dark in the literature. 3. Harnesses on the stroller itself plus the doubles kit are not great and are basically useless for a newborn. 4. For a $500 stroller you would think they could include its own tyre pump. 5. Brake works but is hard to get to and difficult to use in flip flops. Overall I love this stroller and I only wanted to buy one, and this works for us. Mine is apple green in color - and we get a lot of comments everywhere we go. People always ask where my newborn is, as she is hidden underneath! If living in a very cold climate I am not sure how it would go, as you really cant 'seal' the newborn underneath in. Perhaps this is where you would need the cocoon. I think this stroller will see us through, especially as we would like to have a 3rd baby in the next couple of years.

Great Stroller

We live in NYC and this stroller saved us. It's imperfect in some ways ... the canopy is too low and tiny; our baby didn't like like lying flat and it's really hard to get him in; the brakes are hard to work; and, there's not so much storage. That said and all this aside, it rides great and offers, I think, incomparable double strolling.

The Best for doubles
Reviewer: Kate ,

I love this stroller! I have been through a lot of strollers (4 doubles and 6 singles). It's light weight, folds easily, and maneuvers well. If I had to find something to complain about, I'd say I don't love the break. It works fine, but it's hard to put in place when I'm wearing flip flops. Otherwise, everything is wonderful about this stroller. I've always done a lot of walking and when I just had one baby, that was easy enough with most strollers, but with my twins, I have really felt like I lost a lot of mobility and freedom. All the double strollers were too long or too wide or too heavy. This stroller isn't any of those things. I feel like I'm back to pushing a singles stroller, but with the pleasure of having both of my babies with me. This stroller pushes great with one hand and is short enough in length that it is actually possible to open a shop door and push the stroller in without needing someone to run over and help me. This is the first double setup where I have found that to be true. I also have found it works well with one of the babies on the bottom and my four year old on top. I have a City Jogger doubles (side by side) and it's really hard to push if the weight differences are significant. I also love that if I go somewhere with just one child, then I can set it up as just a single. Before my Phil and Ted's, I kept my City Jogger double and an umbrella in my trunk. This took up alot of room. Also, when folded, the Phil and Ted's doesn't take up much more space than my double umbrella stroller. It really is a wonderful stroller.

2 IS Better Than 1...
Reviewer: Suzanne ,

It really is easy to go on walks or shop with two children under the age of 2 with this stroller. My sister has the Valco Runabout Twin stroller which I really like using because I was surprised that it is REALLY easy to push and maneuver for being wide, even if the storage area is hard to get to and the visors are flimsy. I had thought I was going to purchase one also, but then I came across this stroller! The overall weight of the stroller is less than the Valco, which is important for me with all of the lifting in and out of the car, and the compact fold fits in the back of my wagon. I really like that it is not a side-by-side (without feeling like I am pushing a bus). My son who is 2 thinks it is fun to sit "on top of" his little sister. My sister's kids who are 2 and 4 do a lot of fighting when one of them gets over on "their" part of the stroller in the side-by-side Valco. I REALLY like all of the configurations with this stroller. My 9 week old can lay flat while my son sits above her. Eventually, she will sit beneath him as we did purchase the 2nd seat. When my son wants to walk I put my daughter's car seat in the stroller for yet another configuration. The shocks are great on this stroller and it is very EASY to maneuver, go over bumps, curbs, go through doorways, etc. Like with many strollers, the canopy never shades enough of the child (but it is not flimsy). This is a common stroller problem and it shouldn't be the determining factor for a purchase. I do miss the cup holders that my other stroller has, but I have learned to down-size and either put the item under the stroller or carry it in my bag. I feel this is a well-designed, solid stroller that is safe for my two children. I am really pleased with our purchase!

Very hard to maneuver
Reviewer: Anonymous ,

We got this stroller to replace our mountain buggy when our second child was born. The concept of this stroller (how it holds two) looked great, and the frame looked very similar to the Mountain Buggy so I thought it would be similar to handle. It's NOT. This stroller is so much more difficult to maneuver -- there's no way I could do it with one hand and even with two it's a bit of a struggle. Maybe there's something wrong with ours, but it always resists turning the direction we want to turn, and it's hard to keep rolling in a straight line. It's like driving a shopping cart with a bad wheel. It's also a lot heavier than the mountain buggy (even without the second seat), so maybe that's why it's harder to handle. We have also had the problems mentioned by another reviewer about the bar hitting a toddler's head in recline. I was really excited about getting this stroller but we have been very disappointed.

I've lost all my baby weight....
Reviewer: Anonymous ,

... from using this stroller!! It is, by far, my favorite stroller of my collection of 7. I should have gotten this one from the beginning. It makes me want to walk/run/jog all the time! (even though they say it's not a "true" jogging stroller). The attachment in the back is perfect for my 2nd child - although my older one loves to ride in the back too because he thinks he's "hiding". When I just take one child out around town, I just pop the double attachment off and it's instantly a single stroller. When I take the 2 of them out, I pop the attachment on and let them fight over who gets to sit in the back! People are always shocked that there's another child back there! I get asked all the time where I got this stroller and I live in a very chic part of Los Angeles!
PROS: Maneuverable, adjustable handlebar, easy to fold, good-sized basket, looks cool, a great 2-toddler stroller because it fits into any doorway, aisle, hallway - just like a single stroller would. But it doesn't have the heaviness and hard-to-steer qualities as a true tandem stroller (Graco) and it's not as bulky or non-maneuverable as a side-by-side stroller (like my Maclaren Techno). I also like the handstrap for when I'm going downhill and I'm afraid the stroller may veer out of my grasp. I don't mind the 5-seat harness - it makes me feel like my children are safely buckled in. I like the fabric too - it's tough and durable and easy to clean.
CONS: I wish the canopy was a little longer, I wish the back seat was a bit more cushy for when my 9-month old falls asleep back there (his head always flops around). My hubby wishes the handles were a little taller (he's 6 feet tall) and that there was a drink holder and a handbrake. Also when the main seat is reclined all the way and we put the double-seat attachment in the FRONT, there is very little room for the child who is lying in the reclined main seat. So if he wakes up, he literally is almost crushed by the top seat.
But I've taken both kids hiking in the canyons in this stroller and it was extremely convenient when the older child fell asleep and we just let him recline all the way while the baby was in the front seat! It is the perfect stroller for traveling through airports, bringing to the beach, to the mall, hiking, everywhere! I get scared though when I bring it to places like Disneyland or SeaWorld because I think someone will steal it. An amazingly VERSATILE stroller. I absolutely love it and can't imagine ever getting another one. I still gave it 5 stars despite some of the Cons that I listed because, in my opinion, the cons pale compared to the numerous pros of this stroller. Even my husband likes taking the kids on long walks in this stroller. We've walked everywhere in this stroller!! I highly recommend it to anyone - even if you're just having your first child. You can always buy the doubles attachment later if you have a 2nd child. Even if you never have a 2nd child, it's a great single stroller.

Love It Will Not Trade
Reviewer: Anonymous ,

I have done a lot of reading on this stroller, and was very ify ify about buying (the price tag does not help). This stroller ended up being the best stroller I have ever bought and trust me I have a closet full. Peg Perego, Combi, Britax, Evenflow, to name a few. Yes, there are some problems with it like the canopy, the doubles seat bar, the strap to close but these things do not take away from the convience of the stroller. I have a 19mo old and a 2mo old and they both love being in it. The recommended way to use the stroller is not exactly how I use it. I put the larger one in the front and the baby in the back reclined and I also use a head rest just in case but she is fine without it. Now if this stroller is something you are looking at purchasing be prepared to be stopped. I get stopped everytime I use it besides all the wispers you hear as you walk by and people see there are two kids. Bottom line is I would recommend this stroller to anyone it is easy to use in any store, in the city I just would have liked to have it the last time I was in NYC. If you are pushing around a normal double stroller just bring your kids into a store that sells the P&T and try it out and I promise that is all you will have to do.

Great stroller overall, though the sun shade is pretty bad. It would also be great if the double add on was a little longer to accommodate a bigger child. We are in a mountain community and this stroller is great because it fits in the Gondola with no problem. Definitely need an extra sun shade though.

This stroller is fantastic, we had the original one previously, which we bought 4 years ago, but decided to upgrade to the newer version and it was well worth it.
The adjustable height of the handlebar is a great feature, I do Baby Boot Camp 3 times a week and this stroller handles it fantastically. The doubles seat is great and it feels so much more compact than the original (who'd have thought this was possible!. I highly recommend this stroller as it is easy to manoveur and fairly lightweight, plus the extra seat is an added bonus! we get so many people who can't believe it has the extra child in the back stopping us!

Perfect stroller for two different aged kids
Reviewer: Anonymous ,

I researched exhaustively, like most reviewers, and despite some concerns about its unusual design, I purchased the return insurance and bought the P&T with doubles kit. We have been loving it! Our biggest concern was that no one would want to ride in the backseat, but that has been the preferred position for our two-year-old! We put his VERY large 4 month old brother (same weight) in the front for the view, and both are very happy. Despite some other reviewers complaints about the harness, which requires four closures, I have found it is particularly nice with a baby that hates having his arms stuffed through harnesses, so I actually like that. It is not a big drawback for securing for the other child, who doesn't care either way about his arms. I was concerned about using this stroller for travel, but it turns out to be quite easy to fold, not too heavy (it is a double stroller so it is not light, but it compares favorably with the umbrella doubles), and despite having to remove the second seat to fold it, it is easy to do and it is also possible to attach it to the main seat before folding for gate checking on an airplane. This is really nice. Whether it will hold up to the rough handling remains to be seen. Both seats are comfortable, and it is possible to recline the front seat slightly for our 4-month-old while our 2-year-old is sitting in the back seat. Finally, it is really easy to use in tight spaces, like stores and crowds, and that is a huge positive for this stroller's clever design.
As for drawbacks, I agree with other reviewers that the handle is too short when the doubles kit is in use. A few more inches would have made it a lot more comfortable, but at 5'10, I am able to walk with it pretty comfortably for a long period of time, mainly since it moves so easily. The lack of a cup-holder we have solved by using the single BOB attachment, which has a place for two cups and is very useful. Also, the shade canopy is pretty weak, but this is a shortcoming of every non-jogger double stroller I have reviewed. I guess that is the price for the lighter weight. Finally, The instructions are terrible. Why use a dark blue stroller in the pictures? You cannot see anything they are trying to illustrate!
In summary, this is the most perfect stroller on the market for two kids of different ages, when you want an all around stroller for walking and shopping and some travel.

Not impressed
Reviewer: Chris ,

We have two children and live overseas. Therefore, we needed a stroller that holds two, tough enough to handle travel and comfortable for everyone involved. I will only go over some of the negatives that I experienced...1) when in the folded position there is not a clip to hold the front wheel in place (if not careful, wheel swings out while carrying). 2) my two year old has figured out if he pushes hard enough on the footrest while seated he can make the front wheel stop. 3) with the constant folding and storing, the fabric at the hinge areas has worn down and ripped. 4) Foam on the handle is comfortable, though not the best for a family that travels because it has been ripped due to all the handling on and off the airplanes. 5) sun shade is too high for it to do its job. For the money we spent on this, along with all the accessories, we really expected more in the overall construction and durability.

Overall, we got exactly what we expected. Our 2 year old loves his new stroller. We ordered the double kit, but have not used it yet. Some of the instructions are a little vague in how to put it together but we figured it out. Also folding it the first few times is a little tricky mainly trying to keep the foam handle from scrapping on the pavement. Just wish you sold the doubles travel bag from Phil and Ted.

Good concept, too short handle
Reviewer: Anonymous ,
Vancouver, BC, Canada
Date: July 14, 2007
I have a 2 year old and a 4 month old and a house full of strollers. After purchasing the single mountain buggy (no longer enough), the double mountain buggy (love it, but waaay too big and heavy - 35lbs and my toddler would harrass the baby - no separation), the double chariot (have to keep it for biking but the kids can't recline to sleep) and the Maclaren Twin Rally (for the car since the double mtn buggy was so heavy). I was ready to downsize!
It's a great idea, but it has a number of drawbacks (I'm not going to mention the good stuff, I'll leave that to others who bought it & actually used it):
1. The handle is waaay too short. I am 5 foot 6 inches and if I walked anything quicker than a stroll my feet would hit the brake bar or the double seat. Why not extend it like the mountain buggy's handle??? This was the show stopper for me, the rest I could have lived with.
2. The lock out for the front wheel is in a very awkward place - you have to reach behind the wheel. Again, the mtn buggy's was better.
3. The Canopy is awful... It barely covers my toddler's eyes. Would it be so hard/expensive to make a fuller canopy?
4. The 'peek a boo' window in the canopy was sewn faultily - they sewed the plastic window onto the fabric that pulls up, so you're looking straight through... when I asked about this, the store said they were all like that. Perhaps a bulk manufacturers defect?
5. The doubles seat is difficult to slide on & requires a lot of jiggling.
6.. The brake is difficult to engage/disengage.
7. The footrest area above the front wheel is fabric - WHY? It gets dirty very quickly in rainy climates!
8. The raincover has difficult to find SNAPS rather than pull on loops - who has time for snaps in the ran?? Also, the mtn buggy has these nice zips so you can remove a child from the buggy without taking off the whole raincover. The P&t's you have to remove the raincover.
9. The new reclining option of the doubles seat recline is nice but there is a bar in the way at a toddler's head level.
10. The 5 pt harness, is well, 5 points, each time. Why not 2 points like every other stroller I have tried, or one like the chariot?
11. The price: CDN $489 stroller + 109 double kit + 50 raincover + 60 side bags. It all adds up! And believe me you need the sidebags with 2 kids - the 2nd kid puts their feet in the basket & so limits the mat that you can carry.
So instead I sold the P&T?s & kept my stroller fleet.
To the Phil & Ted's people: Overall, great concept, fix the handle and the rest will follow!

good stroller, bad for travelling
Reviewer: cecelia- mom of 2 girls (3yrs & 13 mos.) ,

i agree w/ everyone's review- the 4 straps is too much, a bit on the heavier side, the brakes are too hard to function. In addition, my complaints are: the back toddler seat can be bit difficult to to take on & off. I have to wiggle mine back and forth to get off, which can be quite a hassle! I've blurted out a few curse words under my breath bc of it! Back toddler seat reclines a little, but it might as well not recline at all, bc the metal bar gets in the way and bangs my daughter's head if she moves at all! If they made the back seat more of a one handed operating seat that's very easy to get on & off, this would be a 5 star stroller. Last complaint, i've jammed my finger a few times bc of the location of the stroller's locking mechanism. It DOES have a warning sticker that says not to put my hand there, but it's not very visible. Great looking stroller, though. I DO get compliments on it.

Hooked
Reviewer: Grace ,
Houston, TX
Date: July 03, 2007
I've read so many reviews on strollers, it's insane. I had read a lot of great reviews on the P&T's, but the price tag kept me away. My husband bought it as a gift to me, but I was set on returning it b/c of the price. However, once I tried it out, I was hooked. There was no way I was returning this puppy. My toddler (who I thought hated riding in strollers) loves it. I don't know if it's more comfortable or the height, but he willingly sits in it for long periods of time(well, long periods for a toddler, at least). My baby is so content in the back seat, it's ridiculous. She'll happily sit in there for HOURS, falling asleep when she needs to, or watching the world when she doesn't. She's 17 lbs, but she can sit in the back w/o a toddler sitting upfront. It has yet to tip on me. But what really hooked me is the way it drives. It drives so well. I can use one hand and steer around obstacles. A friend and I traded strollers for fun one day at the mall. She was so jealous of my P&T's, and I was just out of breath and tired from pushing her bohemouth around. :P
A few drawbacks, though (I was spoiled by a previously awesome Quinny single 3-wheeler): 1. The canopy is sad... I mean, really sad. I hate that it snaps on the sides and that it barely covers anything. I wish it were completely 180 degree adjustable like the Quinny's. 2. The seatbelts are somewhat annoying. Why 4 clips for the 5-pt harness? Do 2 clips like everyone else. Too many extra steps, if you ask me. 3. The break is a little hard to use. I really have to put all my weight on it to brake or release. Most of the time, I have to bend down to work it. 4. It's a little on the heavy side for me... but I know I have to pick my battles. It is, afterall, more like a jogging stroller than a lightweight stroller. But I thought I'd mention it.
All in all, though, it's the best thing I've found out there for doubles. I hate excess bulk, and this is nicely streamlined. I get a lot... and I mean A LOT of attention with this stroller (it's a little embarrassing). We went to San Antonio/Sea World with this stroller, and we got so many double-takes from people. We could hear them saying to each other, "Check that out. That's so cool." and many of them asked where we got it.
I definitely recommend this stroller if you can get past the few drawbacks I mentioned... and the price tag.

The size is perfect. It is easy to fold, though a little bulky and unwieldy for the NYC subway. Perfect for bumpy terrain and ideal for city or country. If only someone had told me about this stroller before I made mistakes and bought other ones. The swivel front wheel makes it easy to get in and out of tight places. LOVE it!!

Wanted to address Carrie's 2 negatives...
Reviewer: Sheila ,

Wanted to let you know that I echo ALL of what Carrie wrote in the review below... I love, love being out and about with our stroller. :)
That said, I wanted to address the comments she made regarding the tailoring: One of the straps that holds the buggy closed is intentionally shorter than the other. The manual states you use one of them if the front wheel is still on the stroller, and the other if you've left it on.
We, too, had issues with adjusting the shoulder straps, on both the buggy seat and the double seat -- with a little bit of forcing, we were able to get them past the slots. (I think we put most of the plastic into the slot AFTER we put the extra length of strap so we could use the strap to pull for leverage. It took a little effort, but worked. :)

Truly worth it!!!
Reviewer: Carrie ,

I absolutely love this stroller. I have a three year old and a 9 month old and they both love it as well. Although I shouldn't use our infant carrier in it without the attachment (which I didn't buy) our carriers fit just right in the seat where it is secure without the travel system adapter. (And I still put my three year old in the lower seat.) This is of course NOT recommended by the manufacturer but it does work for us.
We get comments all the time when I take this stroller out. People really like the way it looks just from a front view seeing the one kid in it and then they see the second one sitting underneath and they are in complete awe that there are two kids there in the space of what a single stroller would occupy. I have been stopped several times asking where I got this stroller.
I love to take this stroller to the mall it handles so much better than any standard tandem stroller and fits through every aisle and doorway with no problems.
I guess I just can't recommend it enough!!!
To be fair there are a few negatives that I must mention. On the doubles seat the height of the shoulder straps is not adjustable. It looks like it should be but ours aren't sewn so that they are adjustable. One other thing that was not sewn correctly is one of the straps that hold it closed was not sewn at the right length therefore it doesn't clip onto the post that it is supposed to clip on to. The other side does though and it holds the stroller together just fine when closed. We probably could have this fixed but we already tossed the box and don't want to pay for shipping when the stroller functions just fine.
