Baby, It's Cold Outside

When the temperature drops, keep active with your baby by following a few simple tips.

  • Go outside. Even when the temperature drops, a little preparation makes outdoor family runs entirely doable. Dress your kids warmly, and add cold weather accessories like footmuffs. The JJ Cole Bundle Me features a super warm fleece lining. Add the BundleMe Hat for extra warmth.
  • Know your child's limits. For older children, 30-32° F is an approximate minimum for exercising outside in the winter. 40° F is a good minimum for newborns who cannot yet say when they are cold.
  • Hit the mall. Many shopping malls open early for walkers. Some even have mile-markers so you know how far you've walked!
  • Take a class. Many community centers and YMCA's offer mom and baby workouts. You'll learn new moves and meet new people.
  • Play outside. You and your little toddler enjoyed running around the backyard during the summer months, so why not have keep up the activity in the cold. Add a few extra layers and have a snowball fight!
  • Try an exercise tape. Choose an easy level. Small children have fun mimicking the instructor, and you can get a little more movement in your day.
